[edit] Fair use rationale
This is the Thistle Class emblem. The design is included in the bylaws of the Thistle Class Association. See http://www.thistleclass.com/sailing/GBConstitutionandBylawsRev807.pdf
This particular drawing was created by me, Michael Rees, by copying the drawing on one of my Thistle sails. The drawing on the Thistle sails were applied by various sailmakers and were based on a drawing by Sandy Douglass, who designed the Thistle in 1945.
It is the distictive mark of the Thistle class sailboat that is displayed on all Thistle sails in order to readily identify Thistle sailboats.
In each article in which it is used, its purpose is to show what the emblem looks like to facilitate identification of Thistle sailboats. There is no other way to convey the intended information. The use of the emblem in this way does not harm the trademark or copyright holder, the Thistle Class Association, but rather benefits it.
It is used in the articles
The rationale in case of these two articles is the same, as stated above.
