In 1992, nine pupils from Turtle Rock Elementary School in Irvine, California acted in a scene in the movie. Film producer Walter Josten, an Irvine resident whose son Patrick, then 10 years old and a student at Turtle Rock, decided to use Orange County youngsters. "I thought it would be fun for Patrick to experience what it's like to be on a movie set, and I knew it would be even more fun for him if his friends were with him," the producer told the Orange County Register. The students, who each missed a day of school, appeared with an actor playing a school crossing guard in a scene showing a car racing down a street in San Pedro, California. None of the parents whose permission was sought turned Josten down.[1]
