Hello "Thewikipedian" ("The"?) and welcome to Wikipedia. A few tips for you:

Hi Thewikipedian. I reverted your last change at Enlargement of the European Union as you'd cut it off mid-table - I assumed that was just an error. --ALargeElk 14:46, 1 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Thanks a lot! thewikipedian

[edit] License?

Hi, "thewikipedian" - thanks for your contribution to the 4:3 and 16:9 pages! There's just one small problem... you have described the images Image:4_3_example.jpg and Image:16_9_example.jpg as being "Under GNU Licence". This is a little vague, since the FSF has released more than one license: the GNU GPL, the GNU LGPL and the GNU FDL, which all say different things. Since Wikipedia itself is covered under the GNU FDL, I assume that this is the license you mean. If so, can you just edit the image pages to include the following text? This will make it clear for anyone who wants to use your images what restrictions you have imposed on their use.

Once again, thanks for contributing, I hope that you continue to enjoy being a Wikipedian! -- Marknew 19:12, 15 Apr 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Megadrive and Genesis

Umm, there is a reason the articles are separate.

See: Talk:Sega_Megadrive and Talk:Super_Nintendo_Entertainment_System

[edit] Metric

Hello - please do not switch the order of U.S. and metric in any article. Doing so introduces conversion errors and confusion. You should assume that figures given in articles are measured units, so please don't replace them with converted figures. It is also not nice to relegate the form you found to second class status (either way). Thank you. --mav 10:15, 30 May 2004 (UTC)

Hey, same deal on the flux capacitor article. The movie used non-metric units, so it makes no sense to make that the secondary unit. It also doesn't need to be converted more than once in the same paragraph. —Charles O'Rourke 12:16, August 22, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Currency

Hi. Please remember to write in complete sentences. I note that you started an article "Italian Lira"; we already had an article on "Lira" which had more information on the topic, so I made "Italian Lira" into a redirect to "Lira". (If some time in the future we have multiple paragraphs worth of info on the Italian Lira, it might be worth spinning off into a seperate article at that point.) You might wish to check some of your other recent currency contributions to see if you are duplicating existing articles. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 15:58, 16 Jun 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

[edit] TfD nomination of Template:Playstation Portable

Template:Playstation Portable has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at Wikipedia:Templates for deletion#Template:Playstation Portable. Thank you. -- Thorpe talk 16:39, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Page name for temperature articles

To avoid flip-flopping between 'degree Fahrenheit' and 'Fahrenheit' or 'degree Celsius' and 'Celsius', I propose that we have a discussion on which we want. I see you have contributed on units of measurement, please express your opinion at Talk:Units of measurement. Thanks. bobblewik 23:03, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] metric

I fully agree with you that as an internation and not american wikipedia we should favour metric usage, and I'm american. But I definitely have to draw the line at writing numbers in the European way, eg 134.562,23. Commas are for thousands, periods for fractions.--Josh Rocchio 14:31, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Spanish peseta

Good work on the Spanish peseta! I am currently involved with making coin and banknote table consistent. You can take a look at New Taiwan dollar and Polish coins and banknotes and many other Asian currencies. If it's not too much, I would just ask you to standardize a little. Thanks! --Chochopk 11:44, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] currency infobox

Hi,

Thank you for filling in the infobox. It is a great relief for me, as I simply have so much backlog. Have you checked out Template talk:Infobox Currency? It has a very comprehensive listing of how to make sure that the style is consistency across the world. Thanks. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 10:20, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Hello. I found that you tend to put the central banks for printers and mints on pre-euro currencies. Please note that often times, the printer and the mint are separate entities, or at least has its own name. So I have correct a few of those. For the ones I don't know, I put up fact. Please review Italian lira, Dutch gulden, Greek drachma, and Luxembourgish franc. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 18:50, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Irish pound

You may wish to review your recent edits to the article, in particular the citation that does not appear. Djegan 23:52, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Swiss franc

Hi Thewikipedian. I appreciate your efforts on currency naming. Unfortunately you promoted false ideas about Swiss languages, please try not to. Franc bills are printed in exactly the four official languages. Besides: It's "Rhaeto-Romance" and not "retroromance" ;-) Tang Wenlong (talk) 21:17, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

BTW, on a different note, I fully support your efforts on metric system, as this is the international (English) and not a US wikipedia. Tang Wenlong (talk) 21:31, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Monegasque Franc

May I ask why you move this to a capital F? Your move summary was "as in French Franc". But I checked French franc and see no sign of moving. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 19:58, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Suomi 10euro.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Suomi 10euro.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:21, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] High-definition templates

Hi. I got the feeling that HighDefinitionMedia and the template you started, High-definition, could be merged, so what do you make of (the first template on) Template:High-definition media? Thanks, Sardanaphalus (talk) 21:35, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Italian flag in Template:Languages of the European Union

Hi, I saw you added the Italian flag to the line of the Catalan language in Template:Languages of the European Union. Could you add some sources for that information? Thanks, MikeZ (talk) 11:19, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
