[edit] Dog Police
I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Dog Police, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. I am not sure why you deleted my Dog Police article, even after reading your linked articles. It was the most complete resource on the forgotten band available anywhere. Unfortunately, the article was deleted before I saw your message. I request that you undelete the article. I'm willing to improve the article, but I am not sure of your specific reasons for deleting it. thevince 10:01 21 May 2007 (EST)

- Okay, I found the deletion discussion and I still disagree with why the Dog Police article was deleted. First off, they are a band people have heard of. Secondly, they obviously haven't been forgotten because they've been played (probably by request) as recently as August 2006 on the Dr. Demento show. WP:MUSIC states a band is okay if it "Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable". The drummer for Dog Police did go on to play with Bo Diddly at some point, verified by his personal web page. As for the information on the basement tapes, I personally don't have proof that they were second place in MTV Basement Tapes contest. However, Weird Al stated that they were the winners of his AL-TV Basement Tapes contest on AL-TV. As far as the record actually existing, I do own a copy and will provide a photo for the article.

- True, the band may not be historically significant, but I don't think they deserve to be deleted from history. They aren't some high school band in someone's garage. They made it on MTV in the early years with their music video, back in the days when it was much harder to produce one independently. This is pretty outstanding, especially in the world of novelty music.

- And, just for the record, I am not a member of the band or affiliated in any way. I created the article with hopes that other people would come forward with information on the band. Had I realized the article was under consideration for deletion earlier, I would have made the same argument.

- I'm not the most savvy Wikipedia user, so I don't quite understand the process of having this article undeleted. I'm happy to do what it takes to put it back, though. I'd hate to see this band ignored by history on a technicality. thevince 10:54 21 May 2007 (EST)
