[edit] The Towel Depot

Hi -- I just wanted to let you know that I was mistaken when I replaced the "proposed for deletion" template on your The Towel Depot article. When you deleted the tag, I should not have replaced it; I won't do so again. Thanks. Mike Christie (talk) 03:56, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi again -- sorry if it's confusing; that's partly my fault. What happened was that another editor, Irongargoyle, placed a "Proposed deletion" tag on your article. You removed it, which you're entitled to do -- that tag is for articles that nobody minds deleting, so when you removed the tag, it meant you objected to deleting the article, and that's why I shouldn't have added it back. (It was just a mistake on my part.) Now Irongargoyle has added an "Article for Deletion" tag to the article; that's for articles that need to be discussed before they can be deleted. He did that because he still thinks it needs to be deleted, but you removed the "Proposed deletion" tag. So now, to keep the article, you should click on the link on that tag that says "this article's entry", where you can add a note to the discussion arguing for keeping the article. After a week, an administrator will look at all the arguments and decide what to do.
Post another note to my on my talk page if you have more questions. Mike Christie (talk) 04:12, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

See Wikipedia:Notability (companies and corporations). If there is information that can be added to the article that would satisfy the criteria of that document, then it it should be kept. Basically, this is an encyclopedia; there must be some reason why a particular subject is significant enough to be be included, as this is not a business directory that would include every company in the world. —Centrxtalk • 04:26, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

hello, well you cannot judge how big the company is by searching google and see how many links the company has I can get a web page generator and get millions of page listed in google but thats not how you judge how big the company is goto msn and see how many pages goto any other search engine and type wholesale barmops and you will see we are no#1 our yearly sales are 5MIL.

So by search engine you cannot judge, if thats how you judge companies than its very unprofessional. Now you are using you are not a company directory well if you search ritz camera you will see they are listed to inyour web site so that means you are listing companies on your web site it just a matter who you like and who you NOT like.

I agree that search engines by themselves do not make a complete argument. If a search engine doesn't find any evidence that would satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for notability, though, then the evidence has to be provided. If you look at this link: Wikipedia:Notability (companies and corporations) you'll see what the guideline says. Here's the important piece:

A company or corporation is notable if it meets any one of the following criteria:

  1. The company or corporation has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the company itself.
    • This criterion excludes:
      • Media re-prints of press releases, other publications where the company or corporation talks about itself, and advertising for the company.
      • Trivial coverage, such as newspaper articles that simply report extended shopping hours or the publications of telephone numbers and addresses in business directories.
    • This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, television documentaries, and published reports by consumer watchdog organizations.
  2. The company or corporation is listed on ranking indices of important companies produced by well-known and independent publications.
  3. The company's or corporation's share price is used to calculate stock market indices. Being used to calculate an index that simply comprises the entire market is excluded.

I hope this is useful. If you can show that any of the above criteria are met, please post a note saying so at the deletion discussion which is here. If you can't figure out how to do that, let me know and I'll help. Mike Christie (talk) 15:04, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
