[edit] David Hicks

Hi Theinnerexits, from what you write you are pissed of with Hicks. Are you angry because of some info you got from the media? If so why do you believe it? Maybe cause to some level you trust them to tell you whats really happening? And if you found out that they were holding info back from you so as to shape your opinion you'd be unhappy. Same on Wikipedia - we are trying to show all the noteworthy points of view on every subject. So if a reputable verifiable source publishes a report saying that 30% of Australians think Hicks is the New Messiah it'll go into Wikipedia. Same thing if he's the AntiChrist. If you need "Wikipedia policies" about "civility" quoted to you just post your Hicks comments to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Help_desk and someone will probably lecture you.

Nah, im not pissed with Hicks, he isn't my problem and there are better people to be concerned about. What I have an issue with are all the lies (and failure to disclose the truth) being told in his defence. He is guilty of training with/fighting with the Taliban. A group who enslaved (by religion, by removing the means to defend themselves, by removing all contact from the outside world, by banning television, music, books, restricting education for women, brutally enforcing dress standards, judging the character of a persons soul, not by their deeds but by the length of their beard etc). They are sick fanatics END OF STORY. IF YOU SUPPORT THE TALIBAN OR ANY SORT OF ACTIONS LIKE THIS (directly or indirectly) YOU ARE SICK TOO.

I am pissed that there is a link to a website, that states that he was fighting for the Afghan people (defending their land against the Northern Alliance). The Northern Alliance was the legitimate government. Only 3 countries recognised Taliban rule, the UN did not, the other 54 Arab/Islamic countries did not, No Western (or any other) Governments recognised the Taliban rule. I do not have any solid proof, but I think only a small fraction of the Afghan population supported the Taliban. It is also a fact that the majority of Taliban are foreign fighters from Pakistan, surrounding countries and like Hicks ring-ins from other continents. Most of the NA are Afghan (i believe).

So right there the Pro-Hicks site is lying and I wanted to remove the link. Someone (was it you, i'm not sure) came up with a legitimate reason why the link should stay, (I cant remember what it was, but it seemed fair/justifiable enough, about a bunch of MPs names or supporters or something)... But my point is, Hicks was not acting in the (best) interests of the Afghan people, he fought to enslave them. AND YES BY SUPPORTING THE TALIBAN, ANY WAY SHAPE OF FORM IS SUPPORTING THEIR FASCISM. This is a fact.

I also truely believe that Hick's conditions in G'bay are far better than life EVER was for the Afghanies under the Taliban. If you (or anyone else) argues that any of this is wrong. Come around my place I will glady impose Taliban style rule on your arse, see how you like it!.... YOU WOULD NOT LAST A DAY, LET ALONE the 5 or so YEARS THE AFGHANIES HAD TO ENDURE. I noticed with some amusement that the G'bay library had no books other than Korans.... Guess what, neither did the Taliban. G'bay does not allow kite flying.... neither did the Taliban. G'bay only allows its inmate/prisoners very limited access to the outside world. The Taliban was the same. Do I need to go on? He faught for it and now he is living under the same conditions, but its too hard for him to live like that isn't it.

Alright im going way over the top here, but COME ON does anyone truely believe life was good under Taliban rule???? ANYONE? Other than those sick people who insist on enforcing their fascist beliefs onto others.

I am also pissed off my tax dollars being used to support this man (this has gone to the courts/high court so many times).... HE IS SCUM AND HE IS NOT WORTH A CENT OF MY MONEY. I would like to see all the money raised (public and private) in his name being used for proper and decent causes, such as education/training of the refugees/migrants who come to Australia, or providing more money for reconstruction in Iraq or Afghanistan or a similar worth while charity(s). I would also like to see whatever media attention he gets taken away from him and focused maybe on some other worth while causes such as the living/education/employment conditions of our rural Indigenous Australians and their communities etc....

But yes, you are 100% correct this isn't the place to voice these opinions, but apparently you can write any bullshit to support him, truth, part truth or as i've seen here... blatant lies! IF HICKS IS INNOCENT WHY DOES HIS DEFENCE TEAM REFUSE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS ON HIS ROLE THERE! WHY WON'T THE SUPPORT WEBSITE TELL THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT THE TALIBAN? well kinda obvious I guess, but people read that and immediately think poor david, evil America... Poor David he was there, just helping the Afghans and he got picked up.... all by accident, big missunderstanding... yeah right, wake up man!

I'm not sure exactly what you're references to the antichrist/messiah and 30% means. Are you saying that the website supporting hicks is legite.... because it's there? Its a pretty dodgy source to be quotting back to WP (and is very close to, if not is 'own research') and can't be taken as legite. If you need 'real' sources on life under the Taliban, Michael Moore did a TV nation/Awful Truth segment on it a couple of years ago (1998-1999ish) prior to 9/11 and the subsequent allied invasion of Afghanistan. Thats were/when I first heard about it. I am sure there is other non-WP sources to be found on the net.

.... but in closing, my apologies if your offended by my comments and I will try to keep my personal feelings out of WP in the future. Hopefully you do not support the Taliban. However, If you do, please do not contact me ever again, by this means or any other. This is the last I want to discuss this issue, Hicks is not worth my time and neither are his fascist supporters.Theinnerexits 18:27, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
