Inappropriate Revisions to El Salvador
Sorry about that, Helpful One. We are a middle school/high school, and we can't always control what some of our less mature students will post. We don't want to block Wikipedia; we want to teach students to use it properly. We now are keeping an eye on any revisions made from this address, and will deal with the vandals on this end. Thanks...
Hello
Retraction
Hi!
You left a message saying you moved the name of my page to Glenanne_Hockey_Club. Thanks but this was not completed yet and I thought it was only visible to me in my sandbox. Can you please make it private or remove it from wikipedia as I'm still working on cleaning it up and verifying content before posting?
Thanks a million!

Just out of interest, is it possible to create the same Nav Box like mine at the moment, but for my Wikimedia "meta-wiki" userpage. Which is via This Link is it possible. SKYNET X7000 (talk) 13:47, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Customization 2 for Nav Box
Hi,
- I know you've created me the navbox and i like it, however could the images be changed to a more technical like, to suit the name SKYNET, or something from the terminator series like the load up screen when they've activated SKYNET at the end of the film, and the navbox colour to grey instead of lightblue. Is this possible. SKYNET X7000 (talk) 20:53, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Username reports
Hey there.
Thanks for the reports, but I think you might be a little oversensitive on the username side:
- User:Rajubangayagentleman; is a bit long, but not ridiculously so, and "gay" seems to be a completely incidental part of the name
- User:Bano0o6a; Might be "ban", but might be "Bano". Hardly clear cut
- User:Pocahontasintheflesh; I'm not even sure "Pocahontas" is a trademark
- User:Monosex; I really don't see what you find disruptive there.
Remember that we don't want to scare off the newbies— when a name is really borderline, but there are no contributions yet (or no unproductive ones) then we probably don't want to block per username unless really egregious. — Coren (talk) 18:22, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry about misatributing Monosex to you. I was on a roll, I guess! :-) — Coren (talk) 21:24, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
Er, you're still doing this, with User:Ansarhussain and User:Ramamurty.buddhavarapu. Please familiarize yourself with the username policy, and pay attention to the overall idea of why certain names should be blocked. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 07:09, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

May you not blindly revert one of my edits because a lot of kilobytes went from reverting one editor's inaccurate belief that Ratatouille (film) is more important than the actual subject of the food itself. Alientraveller (talk) 20:19, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Navbox Images
Hi,
Re-block justified and normative
The user returned to vandalism after a two week block. The user has a consistent history of vandalism and has not been blocked from creating a user name. There are certainly more than one level one warnings on the page. If an administrator feels that it is appropriate to shorten or undo the block, it may be changed. The user is free to challenge it. --Kukini hablame aqui 14:43, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
The Celtic Song
I must protest about my accurate updates to this page being mis-identified as vandalism, and automatically undone.
The page clearly states "As sung by Everton supporters" not "As recorded with sanitized lyrics" and while I can understand that perhaps some people could be offended (although having said that the word "Fuck" has its own Wikipedia entry) the fact remains that what the fans sing in this instance is
"We don't care what the red shite say, What the fuck do we care, 'Cause we only know that there's going to be a show, and the Everton boys are there!"
I have been attending Goodison Park regularly for over 40 years so I should know. It is not vandalism to accurately correct the page.

UAA submissions
Thank you for making a report at Wikipedia:Usernames for administrator attention. Unfortunately, your report has been removed due to the username not violating policy, or not being blatant enough for a block. Please remember you should only post infringements on this page if they are so grave that the user needs to be blocked immediately. Others should be discussed with the user in question first, for example using the {{Uw-username}} template. A request for comment can be filed if the user disagrees that their name is against the username policy, or has continued to edit after you have expressed your concern. Thank you.
Claiming that Joan de arc1412 (talk · contribs) is blockable because it is the name of a living person or a recently deceased person when Joan of Arc died in 1431 seems like a poor-quality submission to me. If we expect admins to take our UAA submissions seriously, I think we need to be correct when we assert why a username requires immediate blocking. MKoltnow 17:57, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Mel Bampton
Hi, thanks for commenting on my change to the Mel Bampton entry. If you wouldn't mind, would you go back and review your decision to replace all the text I deleted? You will note that it is a word for word reproduction of the text above it. Following your changes, the page clearly looks like a new user's misunderstanding of wiki's editing code.
I therefore suggest we revert to the earlier deletion. Would you mind commenting on this suggested change? I await your response.

Do not stick a silly template making ridiculous accusations of vandalism against me on my talk page ever again as I will post these bad faith allegations of yours to AN/I if you do. Understood? Thanks, SqueakBox 18:36, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation, sounds like there was bad faith but not on your part. I have never used twinkle but if it is generating such bad accusations against good faith vandal fighters then we have a problem and this probably should be posted on AN/I as some more thin skinned or less experienced user might well feel trolled and leave the project. And yes someone moved Brian Eno to Brian Emo and I reverted. To stick templates on anti-vandal users talk pages accusing them of vandalism is simply way unacceptable. Excess only warning blocks
Hi, please explain your excess only warning warnings on User_talk:64.80.63.131. A only warning is level 4, which means after one vandalism you should AIV report after the only warning. I would just like to remind you of that. Please answer the question on my talk page.
Thanks,

- I came here to say the same thing. There are many reasons not to use the only warning notices. One is that they don't work. Another, as seen here, is that they are often not the only warning. -- zzuuzz (talk) 18:08, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

- Well, its not really usual two people come in for the same issue at almost the same time. I will give an explanation on this one: Personally i use the vand4im to indicate there has been a warning past the last warning. Usually im using this as a reminder to myself that this user has already been reported, saving me the hassle to report twice. Also, i dont deem it just that anything after the last warning is deemed "Void" since it has already been reported to AIV. I have met several IPs that committed over 20 vandalisms)On the logs), yet only received a 4 warning + ban sequence(On the talk). In those cases future vandal fighters tend to be lenient with IP' s that generally cause a lot of reversion work. By marking them with the amount of vandalisms after the final warning, they will probably go down faster due to higher first warning levels.
I understand that this one is especially worse, and the amount of vand4im's looks rediculous. Normally there is 1, at most two vand4ims after a vand4 on any IP. This one however, managed to get up to equal performance with manual vandalism, then i could get with automated reversal; Hence, the insane amount of 4ims! I used to use a custom template to tell a user he was on AIAV, but after a recent discussion with another ditor i found out that this template was removed some time ago, which caused me to go back to my usual vand4im sequences.

- I don't think the user answered the question? Do you get this as I certainly don't, too much waffle! The Helpful One (Talk) (Contributions) (Review Me!) 18:21, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Explanation
- (Sigh something about being lucky to watch other talk pages)
- For the people who DONT understand:
- 1) User receives level 4 warning
- 2) User vandalizes again, gets reported.
- 3) User vandalizes again, warning is already 4, marking as 4im for tracability (tracking Already reported/Warnings not getting lost)
- 4) IF vandalism.commited.again = true THEN goto 3.
- Clear? --Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 18:30, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- But you haven't said why you did so many excess only warning warnings! Just a simple reason is required, and please don't do so many next time! The Helpful One (Talk) (Contributions) (Review Me!) 18:31, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
-
-
- Yes i did: Also, i dont deem it just that anything after the last warning is deemed "Void" since the user has already been reported to AIV
- In short: Im adding a warning for each offense, regardless the reporting status or the amount of warnings. No single editor ever looks at the user contribution list, let alone doing a diff of the edits they made. All the offences should result in warnings should be on the talk page, to give a complete image of the user. --Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 18:36, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

While a "versus" style article is of course not appropriate for wikipedia, that doesn't mean that the content is patent nonsense. You could have just as easily moved the article to a more appropriate title and attempted to rewrite it, or even left it for others to rewrite.--69.118.143.107 (talk) 19:48, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
thx
Thanks for your support, my request for adminship passed 60/0/0 yesterday!
I want to thank Mrs.EasterBunny and Royalbroil for nominating me, those who updated the RfA tally, and everyone for their support and many kind words. To paraphrase a president ... I wish my mum and dad could see the comments made. My dad would be so proud to see the comments ... and my mum would have believed them". I will do my best to use the new tools carefully and responsibly (and you may be surprised to find that I have not deleted all of the pages by accident..... yet). Thanks again, Victuallers (talk) 20:51, 22 January 2008 (UTC) |

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Anthony Horowitz.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Anthony Horowitz.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:46, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Please stop personal attacks. this is not nice. --Area69 (talk) 20:30, 24 January 2008 (UTC) Calling my edit unconstuctive or vandalism is helpful? --Area69 (talk) 20:38, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
I'll remove myself immediately
Thanks to you, I have placed a request to be removed from Wikipedia. Perhaps if I were merely half as good of a Wikipedian as you, I'd be allowed to stay. But the request has already been placed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Msharmanos (talk • contribs) 00:12, 25 January 2008 (UTC) Oh, gosh golly gee - I'm such a noob! Where's my four tildes?!? Vandal Fighting

- I'll echo that, and I have a related question: what anti-vandal software / scripts do you use? I like that it explicitly lists the actual edit in your auto-generated messages. Thanks, Mlouns (talk) 18:43, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Black Christmas revert
Thanks for your message re: the reversion of my edits to the Black Christmas entry (quoted below). I assumed that the majority of my changes involved incorporating trivia entries into the body of the article, their constructiveness was pretty obvious, but I'll be sure to provide that informative edit summary you suggest in the future, so it's crystal clear. Your suggestion that I use the sandbox for testing is noted. I will endeavor not to infer any condescension in it, or to take offense at same. I am aware of its presence, and will use it for testing, as you suggest. When I have good-faith contributions to make to particular articles, I will continue to edit the articles directly.
-your message:
"Hi, the recent edit you made to Black Christmas (1974 film) has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. Page deletion
I deleted the page because the original author blanked it. Under CSD A7, this is a request for deletion. In any case, a Google search shows it to be a copyvio [5] Sam Korn (smoddy) 20:24, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

I hope that by performing more edits on Wikipedia in the next few months that I could possibly change your mind by my next RfA, possibly around May 2008. I hope your had a chance to review my answers to question #8 on my RfA, which I hope answered most of the concerns regarding my knowledge of WP:CSD#A7. - Jameson L.
