[edit] Your revert

Hi. Regarding your revert on the Code of Dinotopia: why did you revert? The information has a source, which is one of those books. How do you know it is incorrect? It does make sense. Check the linked website, the last line is "Don't p...". I did not make this up, you could check in your local library if it has it. Or, did you think it is unfair to reveal such information in an article, or is it just not important enough? Do you have a source stating why it is incorrect? I did provide a source, it is in the very sentence I added. Or, should a source be not directly in the sentence? Please explain your revert. Thanks. -- AstroHurricane001(T+C+U) 15:28, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Re my revert - I have indeed read several of the Dinotopia books, which is why I did the revert. First, I wish all the codes were given in the wiki, but I saw the comment of copyright concern. I wish at least one code was given to give the jist of the utopian society that they have. The last code is never given in the books, that code is lost. (At some point, I might also try to do a better cleanup of the article, and also mention that they changed the codes around in the TV series and found the last code on TV, which had different letters missing from it's final code). You stated it was "Don't pee standing up," with no specific sources or cites (just "the book says," there are several books). Indeed, one character in one of the books sarcastically suggests that it is that, but nowhere else in the books does it specifically state that the last code is this. The entry in wiki was written as if it was indeed fact, but it was more the equivilant of taking an offhand random remark a character made and quoting it out of context. If you can provide a cite from elsewhere in the books where it is indeed discovered that this is the final code, I'll humbly remove my revert. But from the books I read, the whole point of the last code missing is that it has been permanently lost, and while other characters in the books make guesses as to what it is, none of them have been found to be true. When reading the character's suggestion for the last code compared to the known codes, it just doesn't fit in (not the letters, but the code's writing style). -- Thehedgehog 18:55, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
Hi. Just one thing: I did not imply it was "don't pee standing up", I said it was "don't pee in the bath". Is it copyrighted? I've never seen these TV shows, etc, so I guess you would probably know better. I would agree that the last line would be less formal than the rest. However, are you implying that the remark would have to be at least stated twice to be credible? I didn't get the sarcasm in the first book, so I guess you're probably right. Thanks. (P.S. If you are interested in helping to improve wikipedia's coverage of Dinotopia, you might be interested in this wikiproject.) -- AstroHurricane001(T+C+U) 19:38, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
Apologies, you did say it was "don't pee in the bath." I just noticed and replied to your comment on my revert in RFF, but it'd be best if we continued here. A blanket copy/paste of the codes may be iffy on copyright, but I would certainly believe that quoting one or two of the codes would fall under fair use. I'm not implying that it "must" be mentioned two or more times to be credible as the last code, but that the original mention of it in the books was taken out of context in the article. It's been a while since I've read the books, but the character appeared to be sarcastic when mentioning the final code; the lack of it being mentioned anywhere else would seem to confirm that. Thanks for the offer to help on the project, I think I'll add it to my to-do list. I'd definitely like to see more done with it as it is a great series that not many seem to know about. -- 19:56, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
