RfA comments

Hi there; the answer to your question is that it is merely generally accepted practice. As you may be aware there is ongoing discussion about the basic format of WP:RfA, so my answer may be different next month. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 10:30, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Barnstar of good humour

The Barnstar of Good Humor
Hello!, I supported you on RfA, and noticed the comment about the picture on your userpage, which you took very well. To be honest, I really don't think it's an issue, but maybe that's because we need more light-hearted, amusing people like you to make this 'job' more enjoyable. In recognition of your deserving wit and humour, I award you this shiny barnstar. Happy editing! Lradrama 21:34, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Nope, he quite clearly violated his own copyright. Sheesh :P

I think it was the {{coi}} on the article page that somehow confused me. Or maybe my fingers are too quick...and I'm not sure if it's hard or soft G (phonetics isn't my strength)...but you pronounce it "Gig-gi" (as opposed to "Jee-jee" or something along those lines). Giggy UCP 07:37, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Cardiologist

Yes I went to see one. I had a stress thallium test and they said my blood was flowing fine but I don't know why I am still getting these symptoms. And it's pretty weird how they just recently popped up and I never had these problems before in my life. Do you know if any of the symptoms I had listed before weren't related to MVP? lol, I'm just way confused and wishing to get better before my next year at college. but yeah, I am going to get an MRI soon on my organs, but I did have one before and they didn't find anything...do you have MVP? If so, I would be so thankful for any advice or tips...it seems that MVP related information is too scarce! Ok, so thanks for replying, I greatly appreciate it. Have a good one and I hope to hear from you :) User_talk:J.l.bartheltalk 21:03, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

---Yeah, I had an echocardiogram. My doctor said it was minor but unfortunately, I've heard that the symptoms can be really bad or not bad at all regardless of how severe it is. I'm not sure if I have an anxiety disorder though. I get nervous and my heart starts to beat really fast when my heart gives that painful click and I've always been a bit high-strung but I'm unsure. What kind of symptoms do you get? When did you find out you had it? Does it ever go away for long or is it a constant/weekly kinda thing? I'm on beta-blocker but it made me really dizzy so I cut the dose in half and for two days I was feeling perfect! And then it kicked back in...and so I'm putting it back up again. lol, the beta-blocker gives you crazy dreams though!!! haha. anywho, yeah, so i take metoprolol the beta-blocker and lorazepam (sorry if the spelling is wrong). The latter of the two is an anxiety drug that my doctor recommended despite being unsure as to whether or not I did have anxiety. Keeps me drowsy a bit but it's better than being jumpy. Thanks in advance for your help :) User_talk:J.l.bartheltalk 21:03, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

---Clonazepam? Thanks, I will look into it. Nothing for 6 months, huh...that sounds good to me right now! (they are flaring up since June, when I injured myself and had the symptoms come hehe). Some of my symptoms sound similar to yours. I also get weird nerve reactions like electricity shooting through me - does anybody in your family have any other symptoms like this? And dizzy dizzy dizzy! Freshman year of college eh, this past year was my freshman year, I hear 19-20 is a popular time for MVP to flare up :-/ Anywho, sorry to be asking so many questions, it's just nobody else in my family (as I know it) has MVP. I truly appreciate it buddy, and best wishes for your MVP and to your family. If you have any more info I'd gladly accept! Thanks.

"You blanked your userpage. Do you want it deleted?"

Actually it was I who blanked it. The reason I did this is because I accidentally posted some stuff that I should have put on that users Talk page to their userpage, thereby creating a userpage where there had been none before. – Cheers, Iamcuriousblue 05:09, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Tool - Undertow.ogg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Tool - Undertow.ogg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 00:57, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Industrial plastic pipe systems

I just realised I should have used {{db-g5}} instead of the g3 I used . Should I bother or just leave it (for AfD)? The relevant info is at Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Grumpyrob, and the user appears to be banned as he has been indefinitely blocked as of July 23. Thanks, Flyguy649 talk contribs 07:00, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Was the article created while the dood was banned? If not you could probably tag it for notability or just PROD it instead. Whatever you are comfortable with. the_undertow talk 07:06, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, it was created August 6, 2007 as a POV fork of another article, Plastic pressure pipe systems, which has a much longer history (Created Nov 16, 2006). The creator of Industrial plastic pipe systems was indef blocked on July 23 for abusing multiple accounts per the first checkuser above. The socks were identified in a second checkuser, also found in the same link. -- Flyguy649 talk contribs 07:13, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for getting back to me. I should point out that the POV detective work was done by MSJapan, who nominated the page for AfD, and not me. I'm just the guy that applied the wrong speedy deletion template! ;) -that's what I get for not double checking the CSD page before tagging. Anyway, someone else has since deleted the page under CSD-G5. Thanks again! Flyguy649 talk contribs 20:00, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Your misinformed comment on my talk page

That was almost two years ago. Heaven forbid someone's mind might actually change in the interim. Kurt Weber (Go Colts!) 13:07, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Your arguments really border on the bizarre. So you are saying that when you nominated yourself you were NOT power-hungry, but then you changed your mind and decided that EVERYONE else, except for you, is power-hungry? What brought you to this conclusion. Most people change their minds in light of evidence. the_undertow talk 17:09, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
When did I ever say my RfA was an exception? Don't build strawmen.
For that matter, when did I ever claim that I believe that everyone who self-nominates is power hungry? Don't build strawmen.
In point of fact, all I've ever claimed is that the mere fact that someone self-nominates indicates that there is too great a risk of him being power-hungry to warrant my support. Please, please, quit building all these strawmen. Kurt Weber (Go Colts!) 18:39, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
You do claim that everyone who self-nominates is power-hungry by the poor choice of your own wording. To say that you see X as evidence of Y, it to assert inclusion. You can't have it both ways. You cannot stop by a particular RfA, leave a statement about a particular user, and then say it does not apply to that user specifically. If it doesn't apply to a particular user, than it applies to all self-noms. If it doesn't apply to all, then your comments are directed towards specific editors. I wouldn't be building strawmen if you provided some cement. the_undertow talk 20:20, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Ankita Mishra

Hi there! This is regarding removing of the db-bio tag on the Ankita Mishra page. Ankita Mishra is an ordinary contestant on a singing competition who was eliminated. She does not have any discography and she is insignificant person as far as Wikipedia is concerned. Many wiki administrators feel that such personal pages must be restricted. I have been involved in deleting quite a few personal pages of insignificant contestants & they have been already approved by many administrators. There are hundreds of reality shows and competitions all over the world and if people start creating personal pages of each and every contestants, it would become difficult to assert notability of the pages. According to few discussions on this topic, it has been decided that pages should only be allowed for people who have atleast one discography. For more information please see Notability Wikiproject. Thanks ! Wikizen07 02:23, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

What happened to the "largest NxN" reference on the In N Out page?

Hello! I noticed that the reference to the largest known burger was removed from the In N Out menu page. My guess is that someone saw that it was a 666x666 and thought it must be vandalism. It's not; that was a real burger.

The evidence (including a picture) shows up in the book _Legends of Caltech III_ by Mason Porter and Autumn Looijen, published by the Caltech Alumni Association in May 2007. The book can be bought via the Caltech Bookstore's website (and will be available on Amazon once they've confirmed that it won't throw their non-profit status into jeopardy). It has an ISBN number if you need that for the cite, but you can probably find it in the editing history. The burger was also documented in Caltech's student newspaper, _The California Tech_.

I realize that both these sources are offline, and therefore more difficult to confirm than sources on the web. However, if you really need a paper copy of the book to confirm the fact, please let the editors know. You can contact them directly through legendsofcaltech.org -- just use the "submit a story" form.
