[edit] Shannara articles

It would be advisable to combine many articles with no sources into one article with a few sources, because an article without sources will eventually be deleted. Heavy Seltzer (talk) 03:04, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

  • I'm sorry I didn't go into more detail. Articles must be supported by 3rd party sources. Here are some examples, but unfortunately not for the border legion [1] or [2] or [3]; in other words, Brooks or some reviewer or an academic must say something about the particular aspect of the series that you are breaking out into its own article. Heavy Seltzer (talk) 18:55, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
    • It's not a big deal that you sourced the article. I was just glancing around, and there are way too many Shannara articles. They can be restructured with a few bigger articles and many redirects. It's a cut-and-paste solution, but if you look at how other fictional topics get pared down, inevitable. Even Harry Potter articles get nominated for deletion, and the usual result is that they turned into redirects if they don't have 3rd party sources. For examples, look at the edit histories of Number 12, Grimmauld Place, Invisibility Cloak, Crookshanks, or Romilda Vane. And billions of people have read the Harry Potter books and/or seen the movies. Heavy Seltzer (talk) 19:23, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] {{Shannara-stub}}

Hi - a stub template or category which you created has been nominated for deletion or renaming at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. The stub type, which was not proposed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, does not meet the standard requirements for a stub type, either through being incorrectly named, ambiguously scoped, or through failure to meet standards relating to the current stub hierarchy or likely size, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub. Please feel free to make any comments at WP:SFD regarding this stub type, and in future, please consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 23:11, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hart

You could probably email the middle school's general email to find him. This would be on the website. However if I happen to come across his email address soon I shall put it here for you. ~~ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.23.151.245 (talk) 05:43, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Shannara

Hi, I'm one of the admins of the Shannara Wiki on Wikia. Just asking if you'd like to help out with this project, or moreover, do you have any ideas about how the two projects should proceed? It would seem to me rather silly for two groups of people to be writing the same sort of content on two separate wikis (though a lot of the content in our wiki was started from the Wikipedia pages.) The Shannara Wiki was started by a member of the Terry Brooks Forums and initially there were a few other members from there helping out, but now that he's away the project generally lacks direction/organisation. Any thoughts would be welcome... Alex (talk) 14:36, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, it may just be a better idea to work on the Wikipedia project - the Wikia one has pretty much died, and I don't really have enough time to maintain it. The real admin is gone for a long while anyway... Also, I'm sure you know that the Official Terry Brooks website has plenty of info on Shannara from Brooks himself. The Ask Terry and chat transcripts/notes should be particularly helpful. Alex (talk) 14:36, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for your peer review comments here. I have made the suggested change, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:04, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

I will be glad to take a look at it in the next few days (have a bit of a wiki backlog at the moment). I assume you want me to review the whole article and not just the section (looks like it is post merge). The list is currently at WP:FLC, but has not kept me too busy (yet), so I should be doing a PR for you in the next few days, thanks, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 16:17, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Have you tried the Internet Archive for the missing web pages? To be honest I usually write creek and state park articles and am not as clear on WP:RS for works of fiction - usually things have to be from a reliable publisher. Maybe someone at Wikipedia:WikiProject Shannara or Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels would have a better idea (assuming it could be found in the archive). Not GA or FA, but I reviewed Saruman recently and it might be a useful initial model. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 00:05, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your peer review - List of tributaries of Larrys Creek made featured list!
Take care, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 20:29, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Importance tags

For what it's worth, what I'm doing in most cases right now is just replacing the banner, although the "shannara-importance=" parameter is being included in each case. Then, as they appear on the statistics page, which will appear on the project page when the bot does its next run through of the banner, they'll at least all be listed by quality standards. That will allow a bit easier work for all interested parties to determine the relative importance. I am incorporating any extant importance rankings into the replacement banner as appropriate, though. Like with everything else here, doing this in too much of a hurry would probably result in worse quality work. The importance will probably be better figured after it's known exaxtly what all articles are out there. John Carter (talk) 20:43, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Unblock-auto3

Did I mention that I hate autoblocking? =D ....It WOULD be nice if you blocked User: Ed16 and JohntheJohnsterville...They are my friends from school...except that they are being dumb.

Should I just create a separate page for these, or should I just give up? I'm starting to lean towards the "give up". UGH! Thanks in advance.

And I thank you for assuming good faith. I have been here since, what, 2006?? And only now I decide to vandalize? Think about this!!! I would also not vandalize my favorite book series (Shannara) if I was a vandal....not very convincing and hard impossible to prove that though. the_ed17 15:53, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
I did assume good faith, which is why I didn't block you. You might want to suggest to some of your classmates that we can tell exactly when they were vandalizing, and that your teacher might not approve of this behavior. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 17:08, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Alright. I apoligize for being overly defensive, too. =D Also, I will tell them that, and see what they say...but I'm not sure if it will help. the_ed17 18:15, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] About list of Ace Combat nations

its probably not worth trying to fix this article as it will almost certainly be deleted. It would be better just to past some of the info to the Earth(Ace Combat) page and save us the trouble. If the last page on this subject could be deleted so easily, this page stands no chance by itself. Rogue Commander (talk) 01:11, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
