[edit] Image Tagging Image:Aerotrim public image.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Aerotrim public image.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 14:58, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Copyright problems with Image:Aerotrim public image.jpg
Do not try to pass off other people's work as your own, if you keep putting falce license info on your uploads you will be blocked. --Sherool (talk) 15:37, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Aerotrim image
Hi, sorry for the stern message, but it did look kinda bad from where I was standing. Anyway if you do hold the copyright for that (and other) images (if it was work for hire the customer often "buy" the copyright to the image, I don't suppose that was the case here?) then the copyright tags you used where in themselves ok. The problem was that you did not make it clear enough that you where the copyright holder. You should include a statement on the image page(s) saying that you are the copyright holder and if possible some details about when the image was taken and stuff like that, this statement is basicaly the "source", usualy we accept "I took this photo", but for professional photographs (especily ones that can be found around on the internett) the bar is a little bit higher as we want to make sure people are not ripping off other people's stuff. So basicaly just write enough info about the photo shoot to "prove" that the images are yours.
Oh and if you have other (or higher quality versions of the same) pictures that would defenently be great (preferably without the copyright notice or text superimposed on it), and would also go a long way in proving that you and not www.sz-erlebniswelt.de is the original source. Images can be resized "on the fly" by the mediawiki software so there is no need to resize the images to "web format" to be eable to use them, high resolution uploads of free content is encouraged.
The same goes for the other pictures, the problem was that rather than saying the pictures where taken by you you linked to websites that where using the images and that where labeled with the standard "Copyrighted all rights reserved" notice and then tagged them with the GFDL template without explaining why. This made it look like you had ripped the images from those pages and then put the GFDL notice on them, unfortunately this happens a lot (people tagging Star Wars screenshtos and all sorts of things as GFDL or even PD) so such images tend to get more or less shot on sight. Therefore it's important to properly explain that you rely did take those photos yourself.
Oh and one last thing, when uploading free licensed images consider uploading to Wikimedia commons instead, images uploaded on commons can be used on all Wikimedia projects directly (not just the english Wikipedia), inluding all the language Wikipedias, Wikibooks and so on directly (providing a "local" image does not share the same name at one of the projects).
Hope this answers your questions. --Sherool (talk) 16:13, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- Copied from my talk page. --Sherool (talk) 17:14, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick reply and kind words! I would say lets delete the image entirly (can you do that?) and I'll upload a high-res later. I will be updating the entire Aerotrim article anyway. And I hope to become a better Wikipedian in the future. Thanks for everything! --The Singularity 16:31, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
