[edit] The Amphibians and Reptiles Portal (P:AAR)

edit

The Amphibians and Reptiles Portal

Rhacodactylus ciliatus

I'm glad to announce that The Amphibians and Reptiles Portal (P:AAR) has been created and is ready for you to use. This portal covers any subjects related to amphibians, reptiles, herpetology, as well as WikiProject Amphibians and Reptiles.

Purposes of the portal

 • to act as the "main page" for editors interested in amphibians and reptiles. The portal page should contain all the common and useful links to relevant articles, lists, categories, as well as the project tasklist. As this portal is your tool, please feel free to organize, modify, or expand the Topics, Categories, Lists, and Tasklist sections of the portal as you see fit.
 • to recognize works of AAR editors via the "Selected Article of the Month" and "Selected Picture of the Month." You can participate in this process by nominating and voting for articles and pictures that you think deserve to be presented for each month. Selected articles and pictures receive a recognition messagebox on talk pages.
 • to lead potential AAR editors to WikiProject Amphibians and Reptiles as well as to educate general readers. Feel free to add more items for the "Did you know..." section.

Thank you for reading. If you have any questions, please leave them on the portal talk page or my user talk page. --Melanochromis

[edit] Snake project

Hi, Red Cloud! Of all of the people who have joined the WikiProject Amphibians and Reptiles, you seem to be one of the very few who has put most of their effort into the snake articles. Personally, I've mainly worked on the family Viperidae, but I'm now attempting to organize all of the snake articles according to the same taxonomy, adding taxonomic and geographic data along the way. Examples of what I've been doing in the last week or so include List of snakes, Category:Alethinophidia and Category:Scolecophidia. What do you think? Would you like to help out? --Jwinius 16:59, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

the work you've done for Vipers is pretty impressive. i'll keep working on boas, iguanas and geckos whenever i have time. all the best. Red Cloud. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by The Red Cloud (talkcontribs) 05:53, August 23, 2007 (UTC).
Would you like me to eventually help you do the same for boas and pythons? --Jwinius 11:03, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Exiliboa

Hi Red Cloud! I saw your last addition to Exiliboa. I'm sure Oaxacan dwarf boa is correct as a common name for this species, but would you mind sharing with us where you got it? I'd like to see you get into the habit of adding references to everything you add; it's a way to nail things down so that it becomes much more difficult for people to question or alter your contributions later on. It's easy to get into the habit if you first make a text file for yourself with a list of references, like this:

 •
 •
 •
 •
 •

Now it's just copy and paste. In cases where you want to use the same reference over again in the same article, it gets even easier. Then you just cut and paste these:

 •
 •
 •
 •
 •

Working like this, you tend to build up a long list of references over time, while copying and pasting the references into the articles as you write them becomes second nature. These days, I add references for everything. Hope this helps! Cheers, --Jwinius 10:26, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List of zoos

Hello,

Just wondering why you changed this page's contents list from continents and countries to alphabetical..?

I wish to change it back as it is better classified geographically...
