Seeking advice (again)
sorry, had to post this again, it was here before, but it disappeared.
I remember you from the time you deleted the first page i created (it was a good thing, by-the-way), so now I'm comming back from some advice.
I went to check out an old edit on the List of SFTP servers (I added the freeSSHd, of which I am a big fan). I was surprised to discover that the Freeware section has dissapeared (in the mean time I put it back), and a few commercial servers appeared, each with it's own Wikipedia page.
Now, I would qualify that as "Blatant advertising" or A7, but I consider myself not experienced enough in the ways of wiki to start deleting people's pages. (some of them seem nicely edited). On the other hand I know for sure you like doing it so I came to you.
Sorry for consuming your time instead of deleting them myself.
Regarding notability, the only measure I have is number of Google search results:
- MOVEitDMZ 121, wow, that says something i guess
- sysax 21k
- crushftp 43k
- sftpplus 3k
- (freeSSHd 174k :) it's nice to see your favorite tool winning. I hope they don't spoil it by adding adware or spyware) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Radu124 (talk • contribs).

Article history
WP:UCGA. That's got all the information you need. Originally it was to include the gacat field. Discussion was brought up stating that it is prefered that the Bot designed to add the ArticleHistory field to the GA talk pages do so rather than editors. So the project changed to filling in the topic field on the GA template. Unfortunately, as was sibsequently pointed out, the topic field in the GA template and the gacat field in the AH template do not accept the same categories. The topic field is the eleven top-level categories as listed at WP:GA. The gacat field uses it's own thing. I believe this discussion is on the main project talk page. So there is some debate as to whether or not it's even worth it. I still feel they need to be categorized. I offered up the suggestion that the ArticleHistory template be altered so that the gacat field accespts the same categories as the topic field. That would be easiest, as you'd just list which category it is under on the GA list. LaraLove 05:36, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Disappearance of Madeleine McCann (2)
I am starting to feel that we are in the land of shifting goal posts. We are happy to fix any problems but we need to see an undertaking that GA status would then be granted bearing in mind that editors have put much work in to meet the lengthy list of points that you previously highlighted. Certainly, I assumed that the two bulleted sections that are now in the form of lists would be fine since lists are an acceptable alternative to prosing. Further, I notice that a proseline tag has now been applied to the section 'Possible sightings' that was not previously marked for attention. The only tangible suggestion that I can see is the criticism of single sentence paragraphs. This can readily be fixed but if we did so would we then be faced by further comments? My view, and other editors may see things differently, is that whatever we do there is no guarantee that the article would be awarded GA status. I am pointing the talk page to these comments, and other editors may have other views. TerriersFan 20:35, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- I understand your concern, and have replied on the talk page accordingly. I'd be happy to drop this review if you believe I'm not going about it the right way. I don't believe that the GA status is such a big deal but I do believe in quality articles. If I'm shifting the posts it's to make Wikipedia better, not to be an awkward sod. However, as I state on the article's talk page, I'll happily make way for another reviewer to deal with this. I'm still concerned over the stability of the article - it could change tomorrow tremendously, but I'm also concerned over your doubt in my consistency. Let me know, I'll gladly drop the review and allow another editor to take over. The Rambling Man 21:56, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

We made a good start yesterday, methinks. Want to explain at the talk page why we need to chop material out? Not sure how much time I'll have today/tomorrow, especially as the unfortunate gunk referred to at AN is going to occupy a chunk of my Wikipedia life. --Dweller 12:44, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- As the original author of most of the material included in Bradman's article, I must say I am puzzled by, and not in favour of, the editing and restructure that you have done. It has effected the continuity of the article as originally conceived, why change the section headings? I have one more section that I have researched, about criticisms and personal relationships of Bradman that needs to be fitted in somewhere.Phanto282 03:45, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- I never claimed "ownership" of this article, I am asking legitimate questions about the changes that you have made. Phanto282 10:17, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
I reiterate that the lead should have been left, if it needed a little edit, then that could've been done. The heading "From Obscurity to Greatness" is redundant. Virtually all cricketers are obscure at the start of their careers. The lead flowed to the section headings, which were written as mini-essays on respective phases of Bradman's cricket career, to show: a)how he dealt with certain problems, b) include info not always included in his many biogs, c)how his cricket evolved, d) criticisms he attracted along the way, hence the section headings. I don't understand why they were changed. At the point of his playing retirement, the article diverges into separate sections (that overlap chronologically) on his administrative career, business career, family life, his technique etc. The images were chosen to reflect the relevant section in which they appear. The article needs to a tidy up and a copy edit, but not structural change. Like him or not, Bradman is a significant figure in cricket, and in Australia, so I don't think we will be overburdening the reader by the length of the article.Phanto282 11:07, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
I say again: why change the section headings? I fully explained my objection to this. They originally read: Formative years, Boy from Bowral, the 1930 Tour of England, Our Don Bradman, Bodyline, Back to form, a brush with death, Internal politics and test captaincy, the Ashes retained the end of an era, troubled war years, ghost of a once great cricketer. If “formative years” is redundant as a heading, then so is “Youth and early career”. It’s a waste of time arguing semantics. The original lead can be edited down to comply with WP:LEAD. At the mo, the article is 14,000 words, so it needs to lose about 20% or have other articles created from it. Bradman is not O’Reilly, he warrants a more in-depth article. I have explained how the article is structured, why change the structure and waste more time? Phanto282 12:08, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- Interestingly, the point I pick up most is that one cricketer should warrant a more in-depth article than another. No. All cricketers deserve the same level of depth, whether they get it or not is dependent on the determination of editors and their willingness to comply with the guidelines. We're not wasting time, and even if we were, it's our time to waste! We're being bold and attempting to get a featured article which will appeal to cricketer fans and, most importantly by far, non-cricketer fans alike. The Rambling Man 14:34, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
??? So your logic is that somebody who has played one Test warrants the same depth in their biog as Bradman, or Sobers or WG Grace?? OK, interesting philosophy. One of the major points of the Bradman article is that he was more than a player, he was just as influential off-field. Also, he was Australia’s most famous sporting figure of the 20th century, there is an effort in the article to explain why. Then there is the paradox of his reclusiveness and his continuing fame. All of these points were specifically written for the person who has little or no interest in the game itself, hence the discussion of his personal problems and the criticisms he encountered. This is an attempt to depict the man, not his numbers. IMO, there is too much focus on his average of 99.94 at the expense of how he achieved what he did. Have you actually read through the whole thing? I can’t get an answer as to why the original section headings were changed, I have previously stated why they were created. Has it crossed your mind that in your boldness you maybe being reckless? I have put a suggestion on the article’s talk page about how to reduce its size, please read it and comment back. Phanto282 01:52, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- Interesting philosophy indeed, I didn't say it was possible, it's ideological, but there you go. Yes I have "actually read the whole thing", thanks, and in fact I wasn't solely responsible for the changes you keep arguing with me about. I understand the meaning of reckless so I don't need a link to wiktionary, thanks. And no, I'm sure I wasn't being reckless. The article is already an order of magnitude better, so my being bold has certainly triggered an improvement drive, which is exactly what it was intended to do. Let's just get on with making the article encyclopaedic (ie as you've been told countless times, that's why the section titles were changed from sounding like essays to sounding like encyclopaedia headings) and pushing it to FA. External links to sites requiring registration
Hi, Rambling Man. I asked about external links to sites requiring registration here, and the editors there said that WP:EL doesn't apply to external sites used for citations. With that in mind, is Fun Home ready to get GA status? —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 03:42, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

GA - Disappearance of Madeleine McCann
I have now fixed the proseline and single sentence points that you have made and carried out a restructuring that I think radically improves the article. I should be obliged if you would reassess the page since I see no basis on which it would now fail to meet GA standards. Indeed, I should like to think that it should not be far from being a FA. It would also be helpful if you pointed out any areas in which it falls short of FA status. TerriersFan 22:02, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for the award of GA status. I also much appreciate the attention to detail that you showed in fixing some errors consequential on my rewrite. TerriersFan 17:18, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

- Probably nothing if you're using IE6 or IE7. Under Firefox it splits the references into three columns, and since a lot of them are simply author and page number references it makes the list a lot shorter... The Rambling Man 13:17, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
to your comment
the boy removed a kit which has been announced on the clubs official website [3]. without any reason at all, if that is not "vandalism" then what is? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by CalcioSalvo (talk • contribs).
- The third kit is virtually irrelevant (as you well know) while the original kit has truly historical value. So, it's clearly NOT vandalism. And please sign your posts. And stop being rude and condescending to other editors, try to discuss things in a mature fashion. The Rambling Man 12:16, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
if its irrelevent then why does other clubs articles feature their third kit (including featured article and what a lot of football articles are meassured by Arsenal F.C.), why would the club put it on the front page of the official websites? if you're going to interact with me then i suggest you put aside your little grudge you have. i call things how i see them, the boy thinks nobody else can add info to the clubs article, that is not how wikipedia works.--CalcioSalvo 12:22, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- notice how you completely skirt around the Arsenal F.C. comment and ignore the fact that it shows their third kit clearly on that featured article? you know, the little image which has 'Arsenal's third-choice & European away kit for 2007—08' under it? as i said, i feel you're bias against me, probably from the run in we had before where you kind of embrassed on my designate page?--CalcioSalvo 13:30, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- As I noted on your talk page, the Arsenal kit will be the one they wear in Europe, hence its significance. I have no bias against you, although I am aware that you tend to insult other editors in your edit summaries, something I've warned you about in your previous account. Also, your edits to change what was piped to regarding SSC Napoli were simply a waste of time and server space, and in no way did I embarrass myself. Hurrah! Bradman Intro
I have edited the intro to this (368 words, O'Reilly is 344):
- Sir Donald George Bradman AC (27 August 1908—25 February 2001), often called The Don, was an Australian cricketer, administrator and writer on the game, universally acknowledged as the greatest batsman of all time.[1] He is one of Australia's most popular sporting heroes, and one of the most respected past players in other cricketing nations.[2] His career Test batting average of 99.94 is by some measures the greatest statistical performance in any major sport.[3].[4]
- The story of the self-taught Bradman practicing alone using a cricket stump and a golf ball, is part of Australian folklore.[5] Bradman’s meteoric rise from bush cricket to the Australian Test team took just over two years. Before his 22nd birthday, he set myriad records for high scoring (many of which survive today) and became Australia’s sporting idol at the height of the Great Depression.[6] Special tactics (known as Bodyline)[7] were devised by the England team to curb his brilliance.
- During his 20-year career, Bradman consistently scored at a level that made him “worth three batsmen to Australia”, in the words of Len Hutton.[8] Committed to attacking, entertaining cricket, Bradman drew spectators in record numbers. However, he found the constant adulation an anathema which affected how he dealt with others.[9] The focus of attention on his individual performances strained relationships with some teammates, administrators and journalists who thought him to be aloof and wary.[10] After World War II, he made a dramatic comeback and in his final season led an Australian team known as “The Invincibles”.[11] RC Robertson-Glasgow wrote of the English reaction to Bradman’s retirement that, "…a miracle has been removed from among us. So must ancient Italy have felt when she heard of the death of Hannibal."[12]
- A complex, driven man not given to forming many close personal relationships,[13] Bradman maintained his pre-eminence by acting as an administrator, selector and writer for three decades after his retirement. His opinion was highly sought, but in his declining years he became reclusive. Paradoxically, his status as a national icon increased to the point where the Australian Prime Minister called him the “greatest living Australian”.[14] He appeared on stamps and coins, and became the first living Australian to have a museum dedicated to his life.
Suggest you change it to the above. All the notes can remain the same and Note 4 about the averages of Headley and Pollock can be expanded with original text "By way of comparison, the second and third best Test averages over completed careers of batsmen who have played 20 Tests or more are 60.97 and 60.83." Bradman
Hi. Sorry I've not been around to help. As usual, editing opportunities rare at weekend (just look what the time is now - 01.30 local time!) Had a thought during the day today that the difference between Bradman and his nearest rivals would neatly be demonstrated by a bar graph... it'd look especially stark if the x axis ran from 50.00 to 100.00, with the bunch of great batsmen hovering at the bottom, and Bradman soaring away into the stratosphere. I also wondered if a pic of O'Reilly might be nice for illustrating their rivalry... just some random thoughts. Seems like you have the situation over the wholesale changes we've made nicely in hand. It'll be great to have another pair of hands on the case - and dissent will only improve things, as we're challenged to justify our changes, it'll ensure they're good ones. --Dweller 00:38, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- And not a blinking moment too soon. Good to have you back, mon ami. See above and the Bradders talk page. --Dweller 10:18, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Viscount Castlereagh GA nomination
Hello. I've changed the Viscount Castlereagh article to try to meet some of your concerns. Here's what I've done to meet each one, item by item:
- I've given titles to each of the online references. I'm sort of a noob at dealing with Wikipedia's reference templates, and most of the time I just state the URL.... Thank-you for fixing the title links for me.
- When I looked at the Early career and Ireland section, I thought about merging some of the paragraphs. I realised, however, that each one deals with a distinct element and they probably couldn't be combined without muddling each one's meaning. Trying to combine the paragraph on his family with the paragraph on his election to Parliament, or even those on the Act of Union and Catholic emancipation, would be confusing. I think the better solution might just be to add more content to each paragraph.
- Point taken on the "tensions cool" issue. I've changed it to read "relaxed".
- I've combined most all of the single-sentence paragraphs with larger ones around them or with each other. In some cases, though, they're unavoidable, like the sentence-paragraphs introducing quotes on his career and death or the sentence on the blue plaque outside Loring Hall.
- In the tense example you cited, the one sentence indicates he learned French, but at a future time with respect to his learning Latin. I think it's correct, but I agree it's awkward, and all the same I changed it to read "he learned".
- The Decline and death section is now fully cited, and information I couldn't confirm has been removed.
- I would, but I'm not in possession of Kissinger's book anymore. I'll try to get it back so I can look up page numbers in the future.
- It's been argued that he was bisexual because of what he told the King about being accused of "the same crime as the Bishop of Clogher". I agree that's a pretty flimsy reason though, seeing as how he had suffered a breakdown and would kill himself a few days later, so I've removed the category.
Hope that helps. I'm willing to do more work on it if you think it needs it. -- The_socialist talk? 07:02, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- Wow... my first good article! Thank-you very much. -- The_socialist talk? 04:18, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Auzentech
Guten abends. Is there any chance of you taking another look at Auzentech? It's very notable as far as I can see. I can understand if you deleted it because it had no references, but there are plenty out there.
There's a whole bunch of reviews on their older soundcard, the Meridian[4][5]. Of higher note is their upcoming Prelude card[6][7], which was probably mentioned in the original article, but I can't tell. The card is of note because it uses the X-Fi main processor, making this the first instance of Creative allowing another company to use their chips. Creative themselves are very notable, as you probably know, making this card - and this company - well worthy of inclusion. The Dolby Digital and Soundstorm pages link to Auzentech as well.
Even without the prelude Auzen are no less notable than Turtle Beach, which has an article. But to be fair, that one doesn't reference sources either.
Just give it some thought. -Skorpus McGee 18:59, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

SDB
It would seem the main protagonists re. the headings/structure are you and me. Therefore, I’m sure we can sort it quickly to move forward.
1. I think that the headings in place now are quite good. I don’t understand which are uncyclopaedic about them. I would suggest one change: “first-class career” to become “first-class debut”. His f-c career is intertwined with the test career, so career isn’t strictly accurate. 2. Until a couple of days ago, I was vague as to how long an article should be, and lets face it WP:SIZE is a bit vague. Having re-thought it in the last two days, I reckon cutting chunks out for a controversies article will suit the objective nicely. I would like to push this process along so I can focus on the controversies article as I have some good research to put in it that I didn’t put in the biog because everyone commented that it is too big. 3. Have you seen the article for Isaac Newton. Could this work for SDB?
Did you see the link I added? Look forward to your reply. Phanto282 10:48, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Sir Bobert of Bobsons
My goodness, you have been busy with Sir Bobby's article! Great work there. Just wanted to raise a question on the following (cited) statement:
"He went on to play 257 games and score 61 goals for West Bromwich Albion but in August 1962, he returned to Fulham after a disagreement with Albion chairman Jim Grant over his salary."
According to page 267 of "The Who's Who of West Bromwich Albion" by Tony Matthews (which lists all Albion chairmen), Major H. Wilson Keys was the Albion chairman from 1947-1963. 'Jim' W Gaunt (not Grant) succeeded him in 1963 and remained until 1974. Page 319 of "The Essential History of West Bromwich Albion" by Gavin McOwan gives the same info as Matthews. Therefore, unless there is another source available, it may be better to say something like "....after a disagreement with the Albion board....". Over to you... --Jameboy 20:39, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
- Well that's Robson for you! The only source I'm using is his autobio so I'll recheck and perhaps we can discuss again shortly! Good spot though. The Rambling Man 20:46, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
- Pah, I can't read - Robson states "Jim Gaunt"... I'll correct. Thanks for the careful reading! The Rambling Man 07:08, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- That's excellent, very well done on getting it to GA. What about the year discrepancy though? Matthews says that Gaunt didn't become chairman until 1963. There's a number of possible explanations - maybe Gaunt was a director or chief executive prior to becoming chairman and was in charge of players wages, or maybe one or other source is just wrong. I'm going to try to do some more research on this but wondered if it might be worth adding a footnote about it in the meantime? I know it's only a minor detail, but details are my thing. --Jameboy 12:36, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- Oh yeah, completely overlooked the year. Hmm, I'll have another look. I'm not finished with the article, I want to push it all the way to FA so any help you could provide en route would be awesome... The Rambling Man 12:39, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- Bugger it, Robson definitely claims to have handed a transfer request in during Summer 1962 and that Gaunt was the one he had the argument over salary with. Your sources are doubtless more reliable though, any chance of finding out if Gaunt was involved in a different capacity at the club at that time? The Rambling Man 12:50, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Stop, yourself
Stop acting like a nutcase and trolling my edits to the D Generation article. The version I like best? Take a look at the history, I wrote 98% of the article. The reason I removed the edit was because somebody added a random POV of their music (which is against WP:MOS and WP:NPOV) onto it which doesn't belong. Its not acceptable to add a random personal review of production skills into the middle of a music article. - The Daddy 09:08, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Nor is it acceptable to continually introduce typos, POV and edit against the WP:MOS despite several warnings. The Rambling Man 09:10, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Looks like your having a meltdown over on the article, good luck with that.[8] As for ownership, I never claimed ownership, just stated the simple fact that I wrote 98% of the article so how can I have a favourite version, when most of it is what I've contributed anyway? (this was the pitiful state it was in before I'd worked on it and turned it around[9])
Despite the warning that I gave you, you continued to blatantly revert it to the one which added a random personal review of their music and production skills, which is against WP:MOS and WP:NPOV. If you feel the need to stick your nose in and preach on the way you think I should edit (where you cited MOS) then the least you could do is follow the same policies. Been an admin doesn't somehow give you the right to ignore our policies and harass me. - The Daddy 09:16, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Indeed, nor would I seek to ignore policies nor harass anyone, however your behaviour here is disturbing - you deliberately introduce typos into an article and claim to be following the WP:MOS? You deliberately add POV (e.g. "...very popular...") and yet claim to be following WP:NPOV? Bizarre. Anyway, as Dweller says, you need to take it easy otherwise sanctions will be tough. Crowded House
Hey Lincalinca, I noticed what you'd written to Giggy about casting his eye over the above. Well, my first instinct would be to say you need a heap more references. A lot of the paragraphs don't contain a single citation and unreferenced articles don't tend to do too well at WP:GAC.... The Rambling Man 13:40, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks Rambling Man. I intend to dedicate some time to fixing the refs there. Everything in the whole article is actually referenced in the footnotes, I just need to connect the dots (plus, I've asked for Slabba, who worked on Powderfinger with us, to help since s/he was paradigm in improving things in that area). Thanks for the input, though! It's much appreciated. Any other input you may have? --lincalinca 13:43, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Would you mind casting your eye over Crowded House again. Johnfos, who put the refsneeded tag on the page, removed it again having been satisfied, but I want to make sure we're getting it right. I know I need one more source for the style section. there's one part that's unreferenced in that section, which I'll find or quote out till I can source it. --lincalinca 11:34, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Haemo
Did I miss something? The allegation seems to be so ludicrously unsupported that I can't quite believe I'm reading it right. What's your take on this? btw, a good night in the Carling Cup for East Anglia --Dweller 13:58, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- Just because I happened to be here to post the message below, I feel inclined to answer this. I don't get it. Just because he's talking about merging some articles regarding pedophilia doesn't make him a pedophile. Personally, I thought maybe I was missing something. Lara♥Love 14:17, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

- Yeah, and you lost the second half 2-0. We was robbed, last minute of extra time pen conceded. Dodgy. The Rambling Man 14:56, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe Jamie Cureton's not a one-season wonder after all. I was convinced he was... and that we were wasting money on him. After all, I remember Mike Sheron, lol. --Dweller 14:58, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

My turn...
Now I'm asking for your help. I started the GA review on Bobby Eaton a few days ago and completely forgot about it. I normally add them to my to-do list, otherwise this happens. Anyway, I'm overhauling Elvis today to get it ready for FA. If you have time, can you review Bobby Eaton? I gave some very basic recommendations when I first took on the review and they've addressed those, so they told me. It's not a long article, pro-wrestler, so should be pretty easy, one way or the other kind of things. If you can't do it, no prob. Just let me know. I'll try to find someone else, or just bang it out myself. Either way, thanks for your consideration. Lara♥Love 14:14, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Bobby Eaton GAC
Thanks for the comments, they are much appreciated. I have amended the article as possible. In one or two cases I have split the sentence up so it sounds better. If there are some minor changes leave a further note on Eaton's talkpage. Also, can you leave a note on my talkpage in case I forget to check the talkpage later. Thanks! Australians in Thailand
Apologies but I am a Wikipedia Virgin. I do not understand the reasoning behind the deletion. AIT is notable is it is a socail group for expat Australians in Thailand. It has been running for 10 years, is not commercial and is about as releavant as other Bangkok based organisations such as The Thailand Tigers and Southerners who aslo appear on Wikipedia. Perhaps you can explain [User:holtneil] Holtneil 06:45, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- Sure, I deleted your article under criteria WP:CSD#A7, in real words, because it was an article about a group which not assert sufficient notability. WP:ORG should help you determine whether your group is sufficiently notable to appear in Wikipedia, but please note, even if you believe it meet the notability requirements, you still need to provide references which verify your claims, and these references need to be from reliable sources. I'm afraid just because other stuff exists which you think is similar, it doesn't mean your article is not subject to the policies I've outlined. Hope that helps, let me know if there's anything else I can do. The Rambling Man 07:09, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Any chance you can have a word. It'd be a daft way for a newbie to get blocked. --Dweller 11:29, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

- Well I think it's going rather well actually. GA'd yesterday and hoping to get a second peer review and FAC in place in the next couple of weeks. If you get a moment, fancy casting it a glance? The Rambling Man 11:58, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- Want a copyedit? --Dweller 12:03, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, why not. The article, as it stands, is pretty comprehensive already. There are a couple of disjointed sentences and I think that the Newcastle section needs trimming and the Euro section expanding a bit, but other than that it's ready to PR, so a copyedit would be sheer delight. The Rambling Man 12:13, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- Wow. Thanks. If that's what I get for the teensiest start of copyediting, can't wait till I've finished. Seriously - what did I do? --Dweller 21:39, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

OK... weekend beckons. I'll carry on with the copyedit when I can. I think I've slightly messed up in the bit that summarises his management achievements at Ipsh!t. There's some POV in coming close to winning something. How about going for just wins and runner ups. Anyway, I'll be mostly out as usual for the next couple of days. Have a good one. --Dweller 14:24, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Fun Home FAC
Thanks for the support, Rambling Man! I've added the "free registration required" to the NYT citation — not sure how I missed that one. I've got a few minor stylistic/formatting queries at Talk:Fun Home for which your experience might be useful too. Anyway, thanks! —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 15:27, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Clio's birthday
So now I have three projects on the go. Copyedit for Robby Bobson, the Bradman FA saga and now, for Clio's birthday, Stay Puft Marshmallow Man to GA. I'm not so familiar with GA as FA... so I thought you might be able to advise. Can you take a peek at the pix for now and let me know if their licensing would be an impediment to promotion? Ta. --Dweller 08:49, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- Other than reorganising information, improving flow of copy and sorting out the image problems, what else would I need to do to get to GA status? --Dweller 12:30, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
New links
Your comment:
"Hi. Please stop adding the link to a non-specific survey site which doesn't enhance any of the football articles you've thus far added them to. I have reverted your changes. Thanks. The Rambling Man 14:52, 17 August 2007 (UTC)"
...is unjustified as all the individual sites ARE specific fans surveys/research to those individual clubs/teams. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Eddieonline (talk • contribs).
- I agree with Rambling Man here. Your edits were clearly what we would class as spam. --Dreaded Walrus t c 15:00, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

- Nah, the links do not provide anything useful to the article. Since they're surveys they'll always be original research, no evidence of anything scientific going on. The site itself is difficult to use and poorly laid out, and doesn't enhance the articles you've linked to it from. The Rambling Man 15:02, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- I think you are being very harsh personally.
Eddieonline 15:06, 17 August 2007
- And you're entitled to feel that way. I have a duty to uphold the policies of Wikipedia, and removing WP:SPAM is one way that I do that. The Rambling Man 15:22, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Image issues and Powderfinger GA
Just my luck...I went away during the review, and am back now :) Thanks for passing it nontheless, I suppose I'll just have to brush up a bit more on image policy, and keeping searching for an image which actually is free. Thanks again, Giggy Talk 00:52, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Blobby Pantson
Can you do an automated run-through, looking for double spacing? I've found quite a few so far, but may have missed some. --Dweller 09:56, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Well, if you mean double spaces after full stops then they're fine, that's how I write English. If you mean double spaces between words then that is a heinous crime worthy of no mercy. The Rambling Man 10:02, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ah. I've been pruning the former. Did you, by any chance, once use WordPerfect? It loved double spaces. --Dweller 10:09, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- I have, in my time, been forced to use Wordperfect, but I actually prefer the aesthetics of the double space. So leave them, okay? Or else... The Rambling Man 10:15, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Enjoy the weekend's football action? George Burley did. Hahahahah. Couldn't have happened to a nicer man. --Dweller 10:22, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, saw that. I was gutted, we were robbed - softest penalty I've ever seen. Oh well, a point away at Plymouth isn't to be sniffed at.... we're on the telly on Sunday but I'm away (again) - I'll record it so no trying to tell me the result until I tell you that you can! Interiot
How the heck have I racked up 1,000+ deleted edits?!?!? Can't believe it - that's 10% of my Wikipedia contributions. --Dweller 11:46, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- You're just a damned stinking deletionist at your cold stoney heart.I've got about 3,000! The Rambling Man 11:47, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

- Even worse - you're a failed editor too... Boo. Perhaps it was all those pages like Why I love Ian Crook and stuff you made when you first got here? The Rambling Man 11:51, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- I'm a bit flummoxed, to be honest. Wonder if Interiot can run me a process that'll generate where they were. --Dweller 11:52, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, how many speedy deletion tags have you ever added to articles? The Rambling Man 11:54, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hmmm... probably a lot! Yes, that'd account for a whole bunch. Then there'd be edits made in failed attempts to rescue AfDd articles. But I still reckon there must be a few hundred gone on some chunky articles I've contributed to. 99.94 was made a redirect, so it wasn't even that doomed affair. --Dweller 11:59, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- You could always make a request to Interiot to see what he can do, a pretty handy chap as it happens. The Rambling Man 12:00, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
