[edit] Help

I know that you are an administrator, and i assume that means that you are knowledgeable in the rules and processes of Wikipedia. And if that is true, can i ask you a question? Rau's talk 02:21, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Okay thanks. Well, in the Rick Jones (comics) article, an over eager editor moved the page to A-Bomb (comics) with out getting consensus, or even bringing it up. More over eager editors(myself included) moved the page back, but only the edit history for the talk page came with it. After a consensus is reached on where the page is supposed to be, is there a way to merge the edit histories back together? Rau's talk 04:39, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Thank You. I appreciate it. Rau's talk 10:27, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
I have another question. Do my user and talk pages need to be vandalized in order for them to receive protection? And if not, what is the maximum protection I could receive? Rau's Speak Page 02:31, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
I was more referring to time in the level, I would be lost if I could not edit my own page. But since I do not need vandalism, I simply place a request like any other protection and it will happen as I specify? Rau's Speak Page 02:41, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks I appreciate the help again. Rau's Speak Page 02:51, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for continuing to bother you but I have a third question. What is wikipedia's stance on people editing articles of material that they are involved with. Like, say that a President of a Flobots Fan Club was adding information to the bands article. How does Wikipedia handle that? I know that it is frowned upon, but is it outright against the rules? And if you could, a link would be appreciated. Thanks. Rau's Speak Page 19:37, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hello there.

I'd like my account deleted from Wikipedia. I really don't need to have an account because I can just edit things as a guest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Neilmodi (talk • contribs) 22:48, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] request for rollback

Hi,

I would like the rollback tool to facilitate recent changes patrolling. You will notice that my very first edits on Wikipedia, 2 years ago, got me involved in a 3RR-related temporary ban. Since then, I have learned the rules and have tended to focus on articles directly in my field of expertise. I haven't been involved in an editing dispute since then. I occasionally go on RCP, and I thought the rollback tool would make this more efficient.

Thanks for your help!PStrait (talk) 07:58, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

I also made this request on the official page, where it was granted immediately. I had imagined it would be drawn out because of the warnings to that effect and the advice to individually seek out an administrator willing to help. In any event, sorry for troubling you.PStrait (talk) 23:15, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] RFA thanks

Thanks for the support
Thank you good sir for your support on my request for adminship. It passed 92/2/2, and I'm ready for some mop-slinging action. With great power comes great responsibility. I think I'm up for it! ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 23:34, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] What's this?

[edit] Discussion

Just as a notice, there is an important discussion going on at Talk:List of Avatar: The Last Airbender secondary recurring characters/Qualifications about which characters in the List of Avatar: The Last Airbender secondary recurring characters article are notable enough to be included. There are currently only three people participating, and it would be appreciated if you made a comment or two in order to help determine consensus. Thanks. 00:24, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] thanks! - and doh!

I'd like to say 'well done, you spotted the deliberate mistake...' but it's fairly transparent that you've merely discovered yet more evidence of my general incompetence! - I'll fix those talk posts and am sorry that it's not a good time for you - hopefully we'll get to chat before too long though... cheers, Privatemusings (talk) 02:30, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Article?

Hesus321 (talk) 19:27, 26 March 2008 (UTC) Helloe, i was writing here to request the information for an article jsut recently deleted. The title was The Enabler. I was completing a class assignment where i chose to create superhero alter-egos of my classmates. Please allow the article to remain, or can i please have the text back?

[edit] The Church of Google

Hi - With all due respect, how can you justify a consensus for deletion with the number of reliable sources available, the number of votes that agree that the sources support notability, never mind the strength of argument for keeping. Sorry, but that just doesn't make sense. Also, there was a process error in nominating this three weeks after a keep AfD. Granted AfD is not a vote, but 18 keeps vs. 7 deletes, and one delete that changed to a neutral just does not equal a consensus to delete in my mind. I ask that you reconsider. — Becksguy (talk) 19:10, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Did you look at the list of refs I included in the AFD, or just in the article? Because the article refs were in poor shape, which is why I pruned it down for the AfD. Thanks. — Becksguy (talk) 19:27, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for responding. Even though I disagree with the closing rationale, I appreciate your answers. — Becksguy (talk) 20:11, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Although I respect what you wrote, and actually agree with it, it is incorrect. Ys, the CoG article lacks many sources currently. But to delete the article on those grounds is against the rules of the AfD. In the AfD article, it states: "Articles for deletion (AfD) is where Wikipedians discuss whether an article should be deleted. Articles listed here are debated for up to five days, after which the deletion process proceeds based on Wikipedia community consensus." That consensus was "Keep," as you admitted yourself. Please take this into consideration. "The universe is a figment of its own imagination" - Douglas Adams (talk) 22:33, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Anton Sevarius

List of Gargoyles characters#Anton Sevarius is I think the redirect destination that makes more sense and was discussed in the AfD as being the redirect target. JoshuaZ (talk) 01:07, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 216.220.94.82

I noticed you indefinitely blocked the school IP 216.220.94.82. Was there some behavior from that address beyond petty vandalism? Just curious. -- Ed (Edgar181) 14:07, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia Takes Manhattan podcast

This looks likes it's going ahead. User:David Shankbone is gonna be there with his digital recorder at our uploading party.--Pharos (talk) 23:32, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

OK, well the on-site recording didn't actually happen. I don't have Skype, but you can interview me, the Free Culture organizers, and some of the members of the participating teams by telephone if you want. We should have all our photos uploaded and integrated into Wikipedia by the end of this week. Thanks.--Pharos (talk) 00:31, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Well, it doesn't like the podcast is going forward (unless you or someone else wants to do the interviewing by phone). But I've put a Signpost suggestion, and perhaps you could help with that. See the wholly updated Wikipedia Takes Manhattan page. Thanks.--Pharos (talk) 19:37, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia Signpost tutorial series

Hi The Placebo Effect,

Thanks for contributing to the Wikipedia Signpost tutorial series, and thanks for offering to write additional articles. However, we have run out of tutorials to use in the Signpost! If you have time, it would be great if you could make a start with some of the topics that you have claimed, but not yet finished. Thanks! enochlau (talk) 23:34, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] The Free Beer and Hot Wings Show

Would you mind re-protecting (semi-protection) this page again please? Apparently the radio hosts have put out another call for their listeners to vandalize Wikipedia pages, including their own. Coccyx Bloccyx (talk) 19:40, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] DYK

Fancy posting it? It's late and I'm having trouble finding an active admin to do it. Gatoclass (talk) 11:44, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi The Placebo Effect. I'm not sure who's normally responsible for protecting the main page image - I guess it's the person who updates the DYK template, in which case I think I should point out this. It's been fixed now. -- zzuuzz (talk) 15:28, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Deleted page:Dave Small (teacher extraordinaire)

Hey, could you e-mail me the old page of Dave Small (teacher extraordinaire). It's a worthy article, someone just chose an inappropriate name. benenharrington[ at ]gmail.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by CliffRogers (talkcontribs) 22:02, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you from Horologium

Thank you for participating in my RfA, which passed unanimously with the support of 100 editors. Your kindness is very much appreciated. I look forward to using the tools you have granted me to aid the project. I would like to give special thanks to Wizardman, Black Falcon and jc37 for nominating me. — Horologium

[edit] Thank you from gamloverks

Much appreciate the welcome to wikipedia. I'll try to keep in mind not to reply to everything with the phrase "I agree with TPE" but until I don't agree I can't really say that now can I? However, I'll make sure that they know I'm seperate ^_^ Thanks again! Gamloverks (talk) 01:02, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 17:57, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] I'm sorry, I'm new here, but...

You're listed as someone able to send me a copy of a deleted page. This seems to be the only way ot talk to you, so may I here request a copy of the page "The 16' Club"? I made the mistake of putting it up and leaving the references for later addition, not realising that such pages are swiftly deleted if they're not pre-referenced to prove noteworthiness. All help appreciated. --XVI Chancer (talk) 16:51, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Question from Gamloverks

Is it okay to use wikipedia as a source? Or is that a bad idea? Gamloverks (talk) 01:40, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Another question How do you request for a page to be protected, because the page Pau Gasol has been getting a lot of vandalism lately. Gamloverks (talk) 03:51, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Redirect of List of Avatar: The Last Airbender minor recurring characters

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on List of Avatar: The Last Airbender minor recurring characters, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because List of Avatar: The Last Airbender minor recurring characters is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting List of Avatar: The Last Airbender minor recurring characters, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself.
