You gave no reason for your revert, so I switched it back to my version. I respectfully request that you discuss your motive/problem/thinking on the talk page before we do anything else. Thanks Santorummm 23:00, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not bothered about the capitalisation, but extending the subheading was hideous. And this edit was inappropriate: the lead does need sorting, but that's not the way to do it. Thanks. The JPStalk to me 23:01, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Episodes of Lost (season 3) page protection
I was reviewing the history for Episodes of Lost (season 3) (a page that you fully protected), and I don't think that a full protection is necessary or justified. Both times a single user (first User:Corn Man and then User:Rmurray0525) added inappropriate content to the page. However, the norm at Wikipedia seems to be that disciplinary action be taken against that one user and that's it. I don't see any reason why the article should be protected for an indefinite amount of time. Jtrost (T | C | #) 20:49, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] redvers
Hey, I am getting fed up with redvers' attitude towards me and my friend Darren_randall, we have accepted that some of our past edits were not ideal and have apologised for this, we have written several comments about this which we have asked him to look at, he did not instead he deleted our comments without even bothering which to me is a personal attack, by doing this he is basicaly saying "you are a complete swine, i don't wanna waste my time on you as I Hate you so much" (the reson for this hartrid is unknown)
My last to commetns on his talk page were serious comments which i would ahve actualy liked him to answer, but yet again he is discriminating against me, if i could reach him i would ask him what this discrimintaion is about but i am unable to talk to him as he deletes all ym comments, I am not only offended but disappointed in him for being so RUDE, because to em that is all it is. There is no need for him to be so horrible to us, and i am now left in a really annoying rpoblem, I only wanted him to help me out of a problem and i put it across in a nice manner.
Do you understand him? maybe you could ask him what his problem is for us.
I make a habit of never hating anybody and hope that he can do the same.
thanks mate JIMOTHY
[edit] a suggestion re: Catman Cohen listing
JPS, possibly might suggest a one or two paragraph STUB for Catman Cohen as a sufficient WIKIPEDIA listing. I noticed that quite a large number of listings in WIKIPEDIA are simply STUBS. What are your thoughts about this suggestion? It seems that a STUB gets around potential objections from the guardians of encyclopdia standards. The STUBS don't seem to be held to the same strict standards as full page encyclopedia listings.

[edit] Kevin Webb?
Hello, I just created an article about chichester youth brass band and want to create an article about the bands leader Kevin Webb, when i navigated to the page [[1]] i found that it is a protected deleted page or whatever it is, I was wondering if it would be possible for me to creat an article about his lifes work.
Do you know anything about the apst of the article? why is it protected?
I would appreciate any help on the matter, your new friend JIMOTHY
- It is so obvious that he is not notable per WP:BIO. The JPStalk to me 15:36, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
- I just thought that as he is the only person in west-sussesx that actualy goes round to schools and gets people to start playing brass instruments and that he is the Head of the western area music service which covers hampshire aswell as sussex music centres that he may be a notable person.
[edit] Dean Gaffney
JPS, I'm not suprised it was you who blocked me. After all, you and your pedophile friend (Personal attack removed) (who is thankfully now blocked for soliciting sex from young boys on Wikipedia) have been waging war on my efforts to improve the factual quality of the Dean Gaffney article for months now. Some of the facts about Dean are unpleasant and I can see why they would leave a bitter taste in the mouth of a fervant fan like yourself, but they must be recorded for future generations to know exactly how greasy and unpleasant he is. Unfortunatly I don't have the mop, so you and your pedophile cronies have control over the Gaffney article for the moment. This whole episode is a disgusting reminder of the kind of fanatical perverts that Gaffney attracts to his fanbase, corrupt administrators and those who prey on young children. I see you are interested in taboo language. If I ever see you in real life I'll have a few choice phrases for you to do a bit of research on. This is with reference to your message which you left on my talk page [2] regarding following the instructions at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. is thhre any reason why you are continually reverting my external link edits ? - It seems to me that the link is there to promote the forum, which is should be avoided per Wikipedia:External links. Please don't add it again. Thanks. The JPStalk to me 13:45, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Well all is not as it seems. The forum is a key part of the network which the university activley encourages. I understand that forums should not be linked in a promotional sense, however as the Network attracts a huge amount of interest for the University's School of Computing from both prospective students and the media , promotion was not the purpose, but as a resource for people interested in connecting to the servers that were clearly referenced in the main article.

Also thank you from me. I appreciate you fixing up the Carl Fick article. It is my first Wikipedia article; I decided to write it after reading The Danziger Transcript and having trouble finding online information about the author, as his period of widest fame was pre-WWW. I thought, after finding out what I did about him, that he seemed like a notable person and I'm glad the other folks in Wikipedia seem to agree (at least not deleting it :) ) and I'm still researching him more, but I don't understand the citation style rules very well yet. Is there a way to mark an article as "please fix my citations so I have an example of how they should be done" ? Anyway, thank you again. I am learning as I go. Felisse 21:31, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Category:BBC radio comedy
To be honest, my interest in the category has had less to do with the issue you raised, and more to do with the way some people simultaneously apply that category, Category:Radio comedy, Category:BBC radio programmes, Category:Radio programs and Category:Radio, ignoring or being unaware of Wikipedia's guidelines against duplicate categorization. But hey, whatever suits...I'm a firm believer that categories should be named as unambiguously as possible. Bearcat 16:58, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- Sure -- I've noticed that too. Today I removed the parent cats from BBC radio comedy. One user added them last week, but didn't bother correcting his mistake after you pointed it out to him. The JPStalk to me 18:20, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] It's All Coming Back To Me
Hi, I think it would be fine to have samples of all 3 versions because each recording would be independently copyrighted, and the recording copyright would be more relevant in terms of what we're using, than the publishing copyright. You could also argue that to sample one and not the others would be POV. I think it would be different if it was remixes by the same artist as each would most likely be copyrighted to the same holder.
I noticed the Wuthering Heights quote. It spells "Cathy" with a "K" which is incorrect, but it's a quote from another website. What do you think? Should we carry over the wrong spelling, or correct it because it's minor, or use "sic"..... Rossrs 21:22, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] This Life
I don't understand in what way a list of episode titles is problematic, or for that matter, some selected quotes. Is it really necessary that these quotes are attributed to individual episodes? It seems a bit pedantic to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.69.215.63 (talk • contribs) 11:32, 24 September 2006
- Not pedantic. The list of episodes is now on its own page (List of This Life episodes), and we don't duplicate information. Quotes are unencyclopaedic: they are generally frowned upon by the Wikipedia community. Which quotes are chosed for selection is POV. IMDb is the place for quotes. An encyclopedia isn't. The JPStalk to me 10:35, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
im afraid i dont agree that it isnt pedantry. If i was looking for information on This Life then the quotes would be the kind of information i would be looking for, given the fact that it was a dialogue-based drama. Surely it doesnt matter that the quote selected are POV, as they can be edited to include others (isnt that the whole point of this site?). Its pure pedantry to expect a list of selected quotes from a tv series to be encyclopedically listed. I don't think theres any point me using or contributing to this site if such pedantry is encouraged. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.69.215.63 (talk • contribs) 11:40, 24 September 2006
-
- If the quotes are truly relevant than they should be written about, in prose, in context. That would be information. Yes, POV does matter: WP:NPOV. Whether you think it's pedantry or not is superfluous. The JPStalk to me 10:43, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] It's all coming back to me now
Hi, I'm sorry, I didn't want to upset you. I'm making Celine Dion discography, and today I wanted to create "It's all coming back to me now" single page. When I saw that it already exists, I decided to add info/change only Celine's part. The introduction, Pandora's Box and Meat Loaf parts are all yours.
Dion had a worldwide hit with that song so there should be more infos, and I'd like it to fit her other singles pages.
I will add/change few more things later and try not to remove what you have written, ok?

[edit] Yes Minister
I feel that Yes Minister is already close to FA and I have seen many GA's that were inferior to this one; however, that is just my personal opinion, and not necessarily that of the FA reviewers. The information in the article is probably a bit too focused on the UK; as I said in my review, I missed a part about it being broadcast outside the UK (with only a reference to Portugal and Australia) and the reception there. Another thing is you might want to wait a while for the article to easily pass the Stability criterium. A midi file with the theme music might (or might not) help. Again, congrats on a job well done! [edit] WikiProject Big Brother
Hi, The JPS. According to this page, you are a member of the Big Brother WikiProject. It would appear, perhaps because Big Brother isn't airing in Australia, the United Kingdom, or the United States at the moment, that activity on Big Brother-related articles has died down quite a bit. Between seasons is a good time to be editing Big Brother-related articles as this is probably the only time where Wikipedians can focus on the articles that seem to have been forgotten about without too many Big Brother-related distractions. There are a few articles just waiting to be worked on, and proposed article changes on the Project talk page that have received little feedback. Nobody is forced to do anything as a Project member, but please try to edit whatever Big Brother articles you can and help with the WikiProject's aim - to make the Big Brother articles the best that they can be! Thanks. jd || talk || 20:55, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Anne Hathaway
I'm still somewhat unfamiliar with the GA process; could you tell me how long an article is usually at the candidates page for? My understanding is that ones on hold take more time, but I'd appreciate it if you could verify the information. Here or my talk page is fine, thanks! Never Mystic (tc) 20:30, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not sure, to be honest. I've only just begun dabbling in that myself. I think it's when someone familiar with that strand of articles happens to be patrolling the page. Probably a week, I guess... but, hey... the world's not going to end if it's a bit longer (I know how it feels waiting for an article you've put loads of work in to be assesed, tho') The JPStalk to me 20:52, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- When someone like me, who's been editing Wikipedia for about a month, nominates an article to attain a specific status, I find it irritating to have to wait. [edit] otheruses tags
I disagree that it's superfluous to link specific pages back to the disambiguation page. What if I'm reading about the 1997 film and I want to know what other Titanic films have been made? That's the easiest way to find out. Now there's no link back to the dab page. -GTBacchus(talk) 20:25, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
- Because if they want a more general page about Titanic, all they need to do is type Titanic into the search box, and they get the list of other articles. If it were difficult, then they would need the otheruses tag to hold their hand. The JPStalk to me 20:32, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Images
I'm rfeally not used to this sourcing thing and when i do, it's not good enough. The past Meat Loaf cd covers seem to be sourced well, but I don't know how to source my Meat Loaf Promoshots as Free. I scaned that one my self. [[Image:MLABATOUTOFHELL.jpg]] is sourced as best I can, how do you state it's Free? -- Mr.Mushnik 14:27, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- You can't generally state it's free unless you are the person who took the photograph! Remember that owning a copy of the photograph is not the same as owning the image. We can only use promotional images when we know that it is part of a press kit, and that the copyright holder allows the media to reproduce them.
Also, free images of Meat Loaf would be quite easy to obtain. He's still alive and makes a lot of public appearances.
Wikipedia is a (or "the") free encyclopedia. We should be using free content as much as possible. The JPStalk to me 14:39, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks, though it's not always good netiquette to correct spelling, let alone point it out, in talk pages. The JPStalk to me 15:58, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for taking the effor to block me. Where do I go from here?
Dear The JPS,
I saw that you blocked my IP address. I am sure that you had your reasons to do so.
But.
All I was trying to do was to post a link to the site of a temple. The text of the temple name appeared in the page I was trying to edit.
Question: Did I violate any rule by doing this? This was the first time I edited a Wikipedia entry.
On the other hand, I use an ISP, who I suspect keeps changing the IP address so it is possible that I am "enjoying" the legacy of others who were the masters of this IP address before.
Next question: Where do I go from here? As in, what do I do to enable the account? I could of course just leave my IP address blocked, but I thought I should raise an honest voice against this blocking. I also suspect I should create a user name, which I can do once my IP address is unblocked.
Once again, I appreciate your effort -- people like you keep Wikipedia going. And, hopefully, also keep newbies like me coming.
Thanks!—Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.23.119.176 (talk • contribs) 23:23, 1 November 2006
- Mmm, I'm quite confued. I can't remember blocking you... and if you were blocked you wouldn't have been able to post here anyway! Yes, if you create an account you're more likely to be safe. The JPStalk to me 22:37, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
