[edit] Characters of StarCraft
Take a look at the new template on the talk page and at this list. We must have been doing something right! Right now I'm going to see if I can't improve the Zeratul and Kerrigan articles - I never really touched them whilst in sandbox. Then it's on to the location and mapping article. By the way, I noticed that admin nomination note on Deckiller's page, and whilst I'm cetainly touched you think I could handle it, I don't really want to do it so please don't put forward a nomination. I'm more than happy to be a normal editor. -- Sabre 08:53, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] re:RfA
Here's my suggestion: over the next month or so, Sabre should spend some time participating in AfD and RfA discussions, as well as fighting vandalism. There are some of the things that RfA commentators look for. I've nominated people for RfA before, so I can co-nominate with you after a month or so (so that Sabre can build a history as aforementioned). — Deckiller 20:01, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Spells in Harry potter
It is currently under a deletion review. Therequiembellishere 17:14, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 220.236.165.164
Keep an eye on this one, I think he may start causing trouble in relation to the authorised add-ons. -- Sabre 15:08, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Sarah Kerrigan
Will do, I'm just working on a couple of bits on the minor character draft and then I'll get on it. -- Sabre 15:44, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- I know its difficult, but if you could try to dig up another article that relates to Kerrigan's reception, that'll be great. You might find something in the reviews of the game, but an article dedicated to her would be preferable. -- Sabre 17:02, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- I've done the referencing for all but the sections on StarCraft and Brood War. I'll do those two tomorrow. -- Sabre 19:52, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- I've finished my edits to the Kerrigan article and updated the templates on it's talk page. The Brood War section strikes me as a bit long, but I can't seem to cut it down. I think it's just because Kerrigan appears more than Raynor. -- Sabre 16:21, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- I want to add another picture to the article, something to break it up half-way through. Any ideas of what to use?
- In regards to the casting, that is a bit of a pickle. I can't find another source for casting, but I'm inclined to go with IMDb unless something can confirm the SC lore panel - it could have been a slip of the tongue (his memory is going in his old age :P), plus its been held that Harper and Metzen did the roles for as long as I can remember. -- Sabre 10:50, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Benten
I have no idea. If he continues to be missing, add {{Nothere}} to the talk page. If/when you feel that Benten has left the community, consult Wikipedia:Missing_Wikipedians WhisperToMe 14:10, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] StarCraft article priorities
Due to the appearance of an AfD for the Protoss article, I think we might be better suited to working on the species rather than locations next. The AfD will probably pass as the current Protoss article is a pile of rubbish, but that doesn't really matter as the new version will address these problems. However, to rewrite the other universe articles, I believe we need a base in the species. The sandbox is located at User:S@bre/Protoss (StarCraft), and a rough version of a new structure is in place, although I need to rethink the "psionic technology" section. The main issue is keeping the plot details short and isolated to factions (in the case of the Protoss, keep to just the Khalai and the Dark Templar) and a quick contextual summary, although even there it should be kept short - remember that the characters and the actual game articles sum at the storyline fairly well. We also need to make sure that the three real-world info sections: development, gameplay and reception, are dynamic and well sourced to establish notability. The two universe information sections can easily be referenced like in the other articles we've done.
As ever, your assistance - particularly in sources - is appreciated. -- Sabre 13:36, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- It's a good start. Merging those sections is definately better. -- Sabre 08:35, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- The possibility of creating a "Species of StarCraft" has been raised in the Zerg AfD. What do you think on that as a way forward? If we go for it, it makes development and reception etc sections easier (general statements are easier to find, and the Zerg the race seen most in the early betas), but we will have to be extra careful with what we do include - factions and psionic technology will likely need to be made even smaller, and it presents less image opportunities. Considering that this also allows us to properly include the Xel'Naga (whose notability as a standalone article is non-existent), I think we should go for it. I'm going to look into a structure, but I really want your opinion on this. -- Sabre 14:16, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- Should I use portrait pictures for the minor characters article? Or should I put a concept/cinematic image or something similar but related to the characters every now and then? -- Sabre 12:24, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] SC Legacy
I haven't been able to access SC Legacy for a couple of days. Do you know whats going on? It's non-functionality causes some issues with using its transcripts and editorials for sourcing. -- Sabre 20:24, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- That's a real kick in the teeth. I can't find any other transcripts out there, although finding new sources for the news statements shouldn't be too hard. The real loss is the development editorial, I needed that for the species page, and all other information I can find simply redirects me to SCL. Can I at least know if the site is even coming back, or it does if the transcripts will still be there? I'm sorry if I sound annoyed, but SCL is (was) the only place I could find where all this information was stored in the same place and presented in a decent fashion, plus its going to be a right [expletive] going through the articles to change the references. -- 10:00, 19 September 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by S@bre (talk • contribs)
- I understand. In any case, I'd appreciate it if you'd keep me appraised on any information that gets released publically about SCL. -- Sabre 12:06, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] About a tag
I noticed that you were the one that tagged Protoss as having a plot summary that is too long. As this is a character article, it has no plot summary, so what is it referring to? This is an honest question, I'm sure there is a legitimate reason for it, I just don't know it. Larrythefunkyferret 22:59, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
I see the plot summary now, cleverly disguised as "Storyline." I feel thmart. I still maintain that it's a character article (or it should be, based on the first sentence ,"The Protoss are a fictional alien race in Blizzard Entertainment's real-time strategy computer game series StarCraft, and a series of novels based on the game," but thanks for your help. It's easier for me to try to fix something if I know what's wrong with it. Larrythefunkyferret 23:51, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
I finished the revision. Since you were the one that tagged it, I figure you're probably the best qualified to judge whether it's been sufficiently fixed or broken even more. Larrythefunkyferret 06:17, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Colbert Report
It should probably be given a renomination sometime soon. However, I would probably wait till after the the truthiness nomination for featured article is over. One that is over, then we I'd put The Report forward. ISD 16:07, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- Do you want to write up the article for "Today's featured article", or should I wrtie it up, seeing as how I was the one who nominated the article? ISD 06:53, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
-
- I've added a few comments about how the submission you written needs to be improved. They are only slight things. ISD 14:06, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] SC Species
I want you to take a look at this section of the draft article. Does that strike you as too long? If so, would you mind trying to cut it down? I'd also like to renew that request for some help completing that article, particularly in relation to referencing the gameplay sections.
And I've been assured by LoA over at SC Legacy that all the transcripts and the development editorial will be coming back eventually, so I don't know why you said to find another source. -- Sabre 17:02, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, that's good to hear: What about the Confederacy section? —Preceding unsigned comment added by S@bre (talk • contribs) 21:02, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- As an aside, I'm thinking that we'd be best off merging Zeratul into the Characters article: I can't find anything that can be used for out-of-universe information on development or reception like we can for Raynor and Kerrigan. Still, I like to think we're working as a team on this, so what's your opinion? -- Sabre 08:35, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- By the way, it might help if you add your name to this list, where that fix userpage template applies. -- Sabre 09:08, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
It's good, I think its a bit OTT on the intro, but it's nothing a bit of careful editting can't sort out. I was aiming for keeping the society preamble short and giving a basic pre-Khala overview along with some commentary on basic Protoss society, with more elaboration on the Khala and the dark templar in their sections.
Any chance of you doing the Terran gameplay section? I'm a little lost for words there, and I can't base it on current versions like I did the other two. -- Sabre 09:52, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yay! We've got a better mugshot for Valerian Mengsk! -- Sabre 19:17, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Categories
I've redirected a couple of articles (infested terrans, cerebrates) and removed some articles from categories (Kerrigan, Raynor). Ideally, most of the categories need to be deleted:
- Organisations won't be needed because User:S@bre/Species of StarCraft will contain anything in there in a single article, that simply can be put in the StarCraft category.
- Protoss isn't needed as it will either end up in the locations article, characters article or species article, the same is true for the Terrans and Zerg.
- Technology isn't needed as its only one article, and is being merged into species anyway.
- In the long run, books (which should be renamed to novels or literature) may not be needed as there is the possibility that they'll be merged into a single article.
In addition:
- The creation of a StarCraft games category might be useful to clean up the odd articles in the StarCraft category. This would include the non-electronic games as well.
- It's worth holding on to the characters article as I can imagine that a number of characters will expand sufficiently to split off from the characters article.
- StarCraft map should probably be deleted.
- StarCraft: Revelations should probably be deleted, or merged into the afore mention novel merge.
- Hybrid (StarCraft) should be deleted, with some minor reference being made in the species article: after all, there is no information on them.
- StarCraft universe should be put up for deletion the moment the locations article is put up.
Unfortunately, we need to make some headway with the species and locations articles before we can do some of this. Once those two articles are out in the mainspace, we can purge the categories good and proper. At the moment, we could probably try deleting the Protoss, organisations, Zerg, Terran and technology categories; all the articles are in the main StarCraft category anyway. -- Sabre 11:28, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- I've put Category:Zerg, Category:Protoss, Category:Terrans (StarCraft) and Category:Organizations in the StarCraft universe up for deletion, and Category:StarCraft books up for renaming. You can see the discussion over here. Category:Technology in the StarCraft universe got speedily deleted when I flagged it up with no articles in it. -- Sabre 19:49, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Capital ships
I'm going to ditch the capital ships idea. I don't think the article will ever work: notability can't really be established here. --Sabre 12:07, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Pegasus
Ah Duke, my old friend over on Bandit Keith. Okay, maybe it's just the wording that bothered me. How about keep it down to "He makes numerous apperances?" To state that he makes more than other characters sounds like OR to me. hbdragon88 03:57, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- Misreading of your user name. Which is strange, becauase I clearly remember "Drake" from that before.
- As for me, I can only clean them up so much, as some of the articles have notoriously poor prose. hbdragon88 04:02, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] User:Медиа
Keep an eye on this guy. Seems set on bringing back the old unnotable style of SC character articles and destroying what we've done with Characters of StarCraft. By the way, got any idea when LoA is getting the information back up? He hold me the "next alpha" with the Insurrection transcripts I provided him, but I don't know when the "next alpha" will be. -- Sabre 19:19, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Big Five (Yu-Gi-Oh!)
WikiProject YGO seems kind of dead, so I was wondering if you could clarify this for me – it appears that the only anime they appear in is the second season. If this is true, can we strip out the redundant "second season-only anime plots" and "Members in the second series anime"? The headers imply that there is a different Big Five in the first season anime. hbdragon88 05:23, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I know that. For now I'm just going to go through them and pick for poorly-explained items and such, and am counting on you, JuJube, and WhisperToMe to guide me along. My lack of knowledge (only gleaned through the parody The Abridged Series) is quite the limiting factor.
- I was actually beginning to devise a plan for them. Serenity Wheeler should go into Joey Wheeler's article, Gozaburo Kaiba and Mokuba Kaiba should go into a new Kaiba family article, link to Seto's article; Rebecca Hawkins just needs to DIE already, and so on and so forth. hbdragon88 05:55, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Kaiba family
I deliberately removed the overly-detailed descritpion of Noah's deck as it seemed like game guide info. It is my opinion that only the most important stuff should be mentioned, and the rest be generalized in a summary. However, my lack of knowledge (I've only watched the parody of the Duelist Kingdom) hinders my ability to rewrite the section in a satisfactory manner. hbdragon88 02:44, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- Gozaburo has a deck? He duels in the series? And Mokuba too? (well, I knew that because the article said he had a Thief Deck.) hbdragon88 05:06, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] SC related stuff
I want your opinion on something. Look at Halo series. Do you think that it may be possible to rename StarCraft universe and transform it into something like this? It addresses the overall story arc, games, adaptations, novels, merchandising, soundtracks, cultural impact (national sport of Korea, no problem there), and is quite thoroughly referenced, although it has failed GA nomination twice.
Secondly, I'd really like some help on a couple of sections of User:S@bre/Species of StarCraft: I'm a little lost for words over what to write for the Terran gameplay section and the Zerg nature/physiology section. I should be able to just about construct the reception and development sections myself (although any other development sources you know of might be helpful), but I'd really appreciate help on the other two sections. -- Sabre 12:47, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
- An interesting development: a StarCraft Wikiproject has randomly appeared. It's intentions as far as our efforts to get SC articles going per WP:FICTION is unclear - it may not even get off the ground - but it still makes me want to get the species article done in case it causes any issues later: We've been working on these articles since July, there is no way in hell I'm not completing them simply because someone creates a Wikiproject. I don't think it's needed - WP:VG suffices for topics such as StarCraft - but it could help in relation to the game and novel articles. -- Sabre (talk) 11:28, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Your opinion please: what else do I need to cover (if anything) in this section? -- Sabre (talk) 19:04, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
- Do let me know of any important plot details on Shadow Hunters (without ruining the plot for me! :) ). If my memory of your SC Legacy forum flag serves correctly, you're in Canada so you're going to be able to get hold of it quicker than I am in Blighty (three weeks according to Amazon). Also, I've started work on User:S@bre/StarCraft series (I'm hoping it won't take long, it passes time while I'm waiting for SC Legacy to restore all of its transcripts so I can nail the door shut on the species page), your opinion on it would be invaluable. Anything you know about music in StarCraft would also be useful - it's a long shot, but it might be worth it for the series article. -- Sabre (talk) 20:05, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
- Well, the fact that he's an executor won't be hard to mention: just tack "executor" onto the end of "high templar" in his section. The funeral stuff may also be worth noting for the species page, but then again it might not. If it contains anything "abnormal" or unique it may be worth a quick reference under the Khalai protoss section (unless its a dark templar funeral of course). -- Sabre (talk) 23:15, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
- Not really. If you want add it in to the minor characters article and I'll simply avoid reading it. -- Sabre (talk) 20:12, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- How does this look to you? Needs some more references for a couple of points, but is that a sufficient overview of the games themselves? -- Sabre (talk) 20:44, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
First use: <ref name="hunternovel">{{cite book| last= Golden| first=Christie| title=StarCraft: The Dark Templar Saga #2: Shadow Hunters|publisher=[[Simon & Schuster]]| year=2007}}</ref>
Use <ref name="hunternovel"/> for references after that. Feel free to add Ramsay and Dahl (I did put the article up as "incomplete"), just keep it brief and to the point, as is the case with the other characters in the article. Needs to be kept as short as possible. The events of Firstborn can probably be summed up in only a few sentences. -- Sabre (talk) 09:48, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- How'd you know the final part of the DT saga is entitled Twilight? I can't find a source for it. -- Sabre 14:59, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] ?
why did you remove my edit? user:taiketsu

[edit] Can you give this a look over before I put it out
I'm almost done with User:S@bre/StarCraft series. Can you give it a look over, particularly in relation to the story part, and tell me if you think its ok? -- Sabre 20:12, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- I've added some elaboration to the UPL. However, its only supposed to be a general overview, so there's really not much that can be added in regard to the novels (we need to wait for SC2 to fully see what in the novels is significant) and authorised add-ons (these all work within the principles of the official games, they don't add anything new or major). As for the section name, I personally prefer "story arc", but there's not much else that could be used. "Storyline", "Story overview" all convey the same thing, and "Story arc" is just something different than the conventional titles and I think helps categorise it as something spreading multiple products.-- Sabre 11:34, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- Well, its out in the mainspace now. -- Sabre 17:29, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- I've nominated Revelations for deletion. Hybrid's gone, they aren't majorly notable and could probably be merged with little trouble. If you know of the basic story of the two, please tell so I can add a couple of words to StarCraft (series) to that effect. -- Sabre 18:29, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] You Wanted Your Userpage Helped/Fixed?
I noticed that on your userpage, you posted yourself into the category of WIkipedians that wanted help on the userpages. I am interested in helping you. Please leave a note on my userpage saying 1. if you would like some help, 2. what you would like help with, and 3. anything else you want me to know. Thanks. ♠♦♣♥ 00:36, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
I think that, for the WIkipedia:WikiProject StarCraft, you should just put {{Wikipedia:WikiProject StarCraft/Userbox 1}} somewhere on ur userpage. I'm still working on a YuGiOh header (you'll see what I mean). ♠♦♣♥ 00:13, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Completed!
I just finished a header for your userpage, themed for your YuGiOh WikiProject. Take a look at it here, or take a look at what it will look like on your page. I this is good enough, leave a messg. on my talk page, then copy/paste it onto a subpage for your username], then put it onto the top of your userpage. If not, then tell me what you want changed. Glad to help, ♠♦♣♥ 00:29, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, I can do that, but it may take a while, as I have to study for midterms. But I'll be working on it in my (limited) free time. ♠♦♣♥ 21:48, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] done, again
OK, I'm done with the StarCraft version of the header. here it is on your page. BTW, do u think I should replace the starcraft logo with the cover of starcraft, or leave it like it is? (ok, now back to studying for midterms) ♠♦♣♥ 03:56, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Species development
Mind taking a look over this? Did I miss anything over here?
By the way, one of the unofficial banners on SCL could probably be used on your userpage to replace the copyrighted one, such as if you can prize the bit that says "StarCraft" out of the image on the SC Evolution article. They're imitations, and should be nice and permissible. -- Sabre (talk) 23:52, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- I mean this image at the top of the article: it was presumably made by one of your fellow staff members as an imitation rather than a for-profit business like Blizzard, so should be easily usable as a free usage image. -- Sabre (talk) 14:28, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] A question about Terran (Starcraft)
I saw that you partially reverted the bit about Kerrigan having been involved in Angus Mengsk's assasination; I don't recall that ever being in the manual; I seem to remember the story being that Arcturus found her in a Confederate installation, rescued her, and then made her his lieutenant. Can you provide me some clarification? (it might be in one the novels, which I have not read, or I just might be remembering incorrectly) Thanks. Parsecboy (talk) 03:49, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. That's all I wanted to know. I had just never heard that before. Regards, Parsecboy (talk) 04:01, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Re:Zane Truesdale
In the original, Japanese version? Are sure it was translated right? And if that was true, his giving the deck to Sho/Syrus makes no sense whatsoever, since he clearly still cares for him. Or is it a case of "how you use the deck?" Gavyn Sykes (talk) 22:52, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for correcting me then. :) I must have missed that in Janime's translations. Oh well. Appreciate it. Gavyn Sykes (talk) 23:05, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] PROD
Here is how a PROD works. "If a PROD tag is added to an article, the article will be deleted about 5 days later if nobody objects. If any user objects — usually by removing the tag — then the article may be taken to Articles for Deletion for further discussion. User and User talk pages may also be deleted in the same way, but only if the user has no recent edits and has made few or no contributions to the encyclopedia."
If you do NOT want these articles deleted, remove the PROD. WhisperToMe (talk) 05:06, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
See if you can find newspaper/press/magazine/consumer reviews of the title and see what the reviewers say about the characters. Look at what I did with Lazlo here: Lazlo (Camp Lazlo) - Find information like that. If Kazuki Takahashi and/or the GX developers make interviews, find them and cite them. Get the Wikipedia:WikiProject Japan and the people who write Wikipedia:MOS-JA involved and ask them to find interviews and reviews. Perhaps the people at ja:Wikipedia:Chatsubo will help you find reliable secondary sources (newspaper/press sources about YGO) in Japanese. WhisperToMe (talk) 05:37, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Regarding languages, all it says is that English-language sources are preferred. - In absence of English-language sources it is fine to use Japanese sources.
Also see if the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX comic graphic novel has any developmental extras (It might). WhisperToMe (talk) 06:12, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
This on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Yu-Gi-Oh-GX-Vol-Graphic-Novels/dp/1421513781/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1200897266&sr=8-1 The reason why there wasn't as much of a push for sources before is because standard have risen as years passed. WhisperToMe (talk) 06:34, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
