[edit] Hello

I have continued the discussion at the Invasion of Tibet (1950–1951) page. I don't know if you will wait for another person to revert before responding. Benjwong (talk) 21:07, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Anjouan

I think we should move User:TheFEARgod/2008 invasion of Anjouan to 2008 invasion of Anjouan now and merge the content of Anjouan#African_Union_Invasion_of_Anjouan, before the section of that article grows too large... But I won't do it if you don't want to, after all, it's in your userspace and mostly your work. —Nightstallion 13:43, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

No! :) The invasion hasn't yet began --TheFEARgod (Ч) 13:45, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
There's still a chance Bacar might surrender (as it usually happens) and there's no invasion. In that case, we could create an article 2007-2008 Anjouan crisis about the standoff and political crisis.--TheFEARgod (Ч) 13:48, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Mh, actually, we probably SHOULD make the article 2007–2008 Anjouan crisis regardless of whether there's an invasion or not... What do you say? —Nightstallion 17:29, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
my vision is that the crisis WITHOUT the invasion is not notable enough to have its own article. Thus, I was thinking of a merger with Anjouan or History of Comoros. Or not?--TheFEARgod (Ч) 12:02, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
I think it's most certainly notable enough for an article whether there's an invasion or not; we've had articles on far less massive crises before... —Nightstallion 15:42, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
your plan is to have two articles?--TheFEARgod (Ч) 13:05, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
I'd prefer to have the article on the invasion expanded, but I could also live with two articles. What do you think? —Nightstallion 20:28, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
then let's expand the article :) --TheFEARgod (Ч) 23:10, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

What a silly operation name. Like "Iraqi Freedom" --TheFEARgod (Ч) 13:21, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

True enough. "Liberation of Anjouan" would have been as positive and not so silly and seedy. —Nightstallion 14:13, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
I was thinking of something with no connotations like "Morning Tides" or something lyrical like that. :) --TheFEARgod (Ч) 20:27, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
That works, too. ;)Nightstallion 20:50, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Basra

[edit] Mass deleteing articles

I notice that you have been busy tagging a lot of articles for speedy delete. After looking a little closer it seems that you are deleting all of the articles that user langloisrg created, for what appears to be revenge. Although I agree with you that some of the minor operations probably are not needed I do not agree in deleting the Operation templates.--Kumioko (talk) 18:10, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Although I agree with you that some of them are unnecessary and that they are poorly written, being poorly written is not justification for deleting them from wikipedia. There are plenty of articles that need work.--Kumioko (talk) 18:16, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Domacinski sam doradio i preuredio Siege of Sadr City. (Top Gun)

[edit] 2008 Mahdi Army revolt

—Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.116.170.203 (talk) 20:05, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

budi oprezan! to je normal daily toll--TheFEARgod (Ч) 21:07, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Ne revolt, najbolje bi ime bilo Iraq Spring Fighting of 2008 --TheFEARgod (Ч) 20:45, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Dobar je naziv Iraq Spring Fighting of 2008. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.116.170.203 (talk) 20:15, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Piracy in Somalia

Seeing that you have done an excellent job of editing the War in Somalia timelines, I though you would like to know that I recently created the page piracy in Somalia. The chronology section is in dire needs of expansion and this type of thing seems to be your cup of tea. Any help would be appreciated, but there's no rush, and if your not interested, no hard feelings. – Zntrip 22:51, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Somalija

Sta mislis? Top Gun

Evo zapoceo sam ga, uglavnom sam copy pejstovao ono sto si ti vec bio izkucao i timelin-u rata za 2008, Battle of Mogadishu (2008). Top Gun

[edit] Please respect the Sri Lanka Dispute Resolution Agreement

This is a friendly notice. You may have overlooked that the article Sri Lankan Civil War, which you reverted, is under the Sri Lanka Dispute Resolution Agreement subject to edit restrictions. This means, among other things, that it is not allowed to revert to the same version more than once a day. Since there was also an other account who performed the same reversions as you, please be advised that this restriction is on a per version basis, not on a per account basis. Please therefore best avoid reverting articles that are subject to this agreement. As the blue box specifies, please instead report any issues at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Sri Lanka Reconciliation. [edit] Your confusion over UNITAF

In response to your confusion as to why UNITAF is regarded as a success, it may be helpful to read the "Results" section of the article. Additionally, your question is not new and was raised here as well. Hope that helps! BWH76 (talk) 15:20, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Insurgency-related page moves

I have reverted a few recent page moves which you performed:

In the latter two cases, I was motivated by two factors. First, "X conflict" and "X insurgency" are generally much more commonly used than "Insurgency in X". Second, the topic of the article is not insurgency in South Thailand generally, but a single specific insurgency; thus, a title such as "South Thailand insurgency" is less generic and more clearly identifies the scope of the article. Black Falcon (Talk) 17:59, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Compare the results for "Insurgency in South Thailand with those for "South Thailand insurgency. The latter is usage is about 10 times more common. Similarly, "Sa'dah conflict" is much more common than "Insurgency in Sadah". The fact that other articles use "Insurgency in X" may just be an indication that they need to be renamed (since, again, none of the article consider the general topic of insurgency in a particular country, but rather cover a specific insurgency within a country). Black Falcon (Talk) 20:19, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
I did not say that everything should be "X insurgency" or "X wars", and I only raised the possibility that the three articles which you gave as examples (incidentally, I noticed that you either creator or moved all three to their current titles) ought to be renamed.
As for the Google numbers, according to Wikipedia:Naming conventions, "article naming should prefer what the greatest number of English speakers would most easily recognize". So, while Google numbers are never definitive, they ought to be considered.
Finally, as I've noted, "Insurgency in X" is an ambiguous title, since it does not clearly reflect the scope of an article. The article South Thailand insurgency is not an article about insurgency in South Thailand in general (as suggested by the alternate title of Insurgency in South Thailand), but is rather an article about a single, specific insurgency currently taking place there. Black Falcon (Talk) 20:29, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
That sounds good; and I won't move or re-move any additional articles until we've had more opportunity to discuss this and reach a consensus. I'll post a notice at Talk:Insurgency in Sa'dah to invite comment from other users. Cheers, Black Falcon (Talk) 20:32, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Shabab al-Muomineen

A tag has been placed on Shabab al-Muomineen requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. – ThatWikiGuy (talk) 12:18, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Ofanziva

[edit] Somalia

Thanks for reminding me. I was trying to find the name of the town on the map and I completely forgot about it. That'll teach me to do more then one thing at a time. Furious Stormrage (talk) 14:37, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

I did have the source. But I was also busy gathering some evidence about HIV prevalance in Nigeria. I clicked submit and I knew I forgot to finish editing the Somali article and I thought I got it all when I did the two subsequent edits. I guess not.

By the way. The only part that seems to be the same has the May 8th casualty list is the IED in Baidoa. But the number of deaths and wounds are to different. I think It's safe to remove it since it was a Somali Soldier who said it. They aren't exactly known for telling the truth. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Furious Stormrage (talkcontribs) 15:36, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Liban

Pet mrtvih javljaju.(Top Gun)

Evo uradio sam 2008 Beirut clashes.(Top Gun)

Pod policajac sam mislio clan snaga obezbedjenja parlamenta.

Sto vrlo logicno zvuci.

[edit] synthesizing

The section about Ethiopia on Prees TV is synthesizing, and a violation of WP:OR which states "Synthesizing material occurs when an editor tries to demonstrate the validity of his or her own conclusions by citing sources that when put together serve to advance the editor's position". The section is also citing Press TV as a primary source to criticize Press TV, that is against the rules as well.--Sina111 (talk) 23:29, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Again, you`re synthesizing. The Macleans source is an editorial and makes no mention of Somalia whatsoever. The other two "sources" are unreliable partisan pro-Ethiopian websites which fail WP:RS.--Sina111 (talk) 14:53, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sudan
