Image copyright problem with Image:MidlandF1.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:MidlandF1.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Request for edit summary

LeMans page edits
Noticed the changes to some of my results pages for the 24 Hours of LeMans, but also noticed some errors. Although changes from '&' to 'and' are right and all, these changes in turn removed the links to existing pages that use &, specifically Riley & Scott and Cooper Tire & Rubber Company. I'm not sure if this was the fault of the program you happened to be using, but a quick view of the article afterwords would have shown the error. The359 18:18, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Deletion of links
Why do you delete red links on drivers in the Le Mans races? Just because there is not yet an article on them? It is easier to write about somebody if the name is linked in the article it is mentioned. Please un-do all your changes! --Matthead 17:50, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
Le Mans formatting
Why do you remove the <br> I've entered in the team column? The drivers are already listed in such a way. Some team names are very wide, or two team enter the car, so the table gets very wide, especially on small screens. The <br> allow much better use of the space. F1 portal featured article
The F1 portal (in which I assume you have some degree of interest, as your name is listed on Wikipedia:WikiProject_Formula_One) is intended to have a regular rotation of a 'featured article'. I've swapped a few in and out over the last couple of months, but I think it would be better if there were more of a community attempt at deciding this, proposals, votes, that kind of thing. Selected articles on Portal:F1
Hello again.
I dropped notes round a while back to those who have listed themselves at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Formula_One to ask for suggestions for selected articles on portal:Formula One. There was a pretty good response, both in terms of how it might work and of articles suggested. Damon Hill came out with the most support and was brought up to Good Article standard after a lot of work by Skully Collins and others before going on as the F1 portal selected article a couple of weeks ago. It is now at Featured Article Candidates as a Featured Article candidate (why not drop by and see if you can help polish it further?).
Several people who responded to the original request suggested that a monthly or bi-weekly 'Selected Article' could act as a catalyst for an improvement drive to get more articles up to a higher standard. Although it wasn't quite what I had in mind when I started, this seemed to work pretty well for the Damon Hill article, so I've drafted up a process for doing this more regularly. See Portal_talk:Formula_One/Management_of_selected_articles for details. Essentially the suggestion is that we vote for an article to improve every couple of weeks and at the end of the improvement process the article goes on the portal as the new 'Selected Article'. I'd be grateful for any comments on how this might work - I'm sure some of you are more familiar with things 'Wiki' than me - as well as your votes for the next candidate (by 16 July).
You may also want to help with the article Gilles Villeneuve, which was the next most popular after Damon Hill. The idea is to try and get it up to GA standard by 16 July and then put it on the portal as the 'Selected Article'. I hope you can help! 4u1e 18:28, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Spelling foreign names
Just giving you a heads-up to tell you I've been correcting some common mistakes you've been making on the sportscar racing scores. Notably, I've been correcting "Jerome Pelicand" to Jerome Policand, "Christophe Bouchet" to Christophe Bouchut and "Gabrielle Gardel" to Gabriele Gardel (who, incidentally, is Swiss, not Italian). --Pc13 18:56, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
- That's perfectly fine, I know there's some that I've made some mistakes on, especially in the European series. Also, some official documentation from ELMS, LMES, ALMS, etc. makes mistakes and puts up a wrong country for a driver or simply spells them wrong (or leaves out stresses and umlauts and such), which obviously doesn't help. Estoril Racing
As you can see here, this is the Monteiro family's business, which as you can see is based in France. Manuel Monteiro is a Portuguese emmigrant in France. We've done some occasional pieces about him in the newspaper I work for, the first time he entered Le Mans. His sons, Michel and Claude, although usually identified as Portuguese, were born in France, have never lived in Portugal, and their racing licenses are handled by the FFSA. "Michel" and "Claude" are not Portuguese names in any event, and according to Portuguese legislation you cannot register Portuguese citizens with foreign first names on their birth certificate. So daddy Manuel counts as Portuguese, and his sons don't, even if they want to. And you can see here that Estoril Racing really is a French team. --Pc13 22:51, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'll have to check. It's actually possible Estoril Racing had a Portuguese racing license for '98, but knowing how the Portuguese Federation operates, given that he didn't live in Portugal, I can imagine the bureaucratic hoops Monteiro would have been forced to go through that wouldn't be an issue with the FFSA. Supercar 500
I'd keep it. If you take a look at the "Calendar" page in the FIA GT site, you'll see that, apart from the Spa 24H and the Tourist Trophy, all the other rounds are named precisely "Supercar 500" on the poster. Rolex 24
The "Rolex 24 At Daytona" is a 24-hour sports car race currently held at Daytona International Speedway in January. The "24 Hours of Daytona" is not the proper name for anything at this time. It is a colloquial title as opposed to the official race name. You may not like the sponsorship, but it's no more or less unsightly than the Papajohns.com Bowl - again, the proper name of a sporting event whether we like it or not. If the race's name gets changed, we can move the article again. Wikipedia is a living document. That's its beauty. FCYTravis 07:16, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

...because the article as it was (2 lines of text, and one of them about nickname for Pennsylvania, and it remained like that since May) had no claim to notability whatsoever. Somebody else tagged it for speedy deletion and threatened to take it to AFD. If you can write a sourced article showing that it is notable and encyclopedia-worthy, go ahead. Rollcentre
Rollcentre driver João Barbosa told me the team isn't getting the Pescarolo chassis until February, and the shakedown will be at the Dunlop tests at Estoril, two weeks before Sebring, so he doesn't believe the team will make it. Sports Car

I disagree entirely. By definition, a sports car is a car built for sporting driving (ie racing, rallying, trials, etc) and generally accepted as having room for a passenger. Thus passenger bearing racing cars are a sub-set in the category of Sports cars (eg the World Sports Car champs competed in by racing cars).
I do of course agree there should some distinction between production/road sports cars and racing sports cars. But as it stands the title "Sports cars" includes sports racing cars so either changing the title of Sports cars, or reorganising the sub-categories (eg Sports cars > Production / Racing / Super cars / etc) should solve this. Reorganising the sub categories would be the most correct organisation.
Indeed it might also be a good opportunity to create a country of origin category within Sports cars (eg British sports cars, etc).
PS - I'm fairly certain the early DBRs were able to be registered and used on the road as indeed all Le Mans entries were in the '50s, thus meeting your definition for Sports car anyway.
- I agree that the cars are indeed called sports cars, but I believe that since they are already tagged under Category:Racing cars, that it is a bit redundant to also list them under Category:Sports cars. I think it makes more sense for the sports car list to only include street legal cars. Especially due to the vast majority of sports cars in later decades that bore no relation to street legal cars, such as the cars in Category:Group C. A subcategory of Category:Sports cars might work though.
- Also, only the DB3/DB3S were street legal cars, all DBRs were purpose built race cars in very small numbers that were not driven on public streets. The359 00:02, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

- Yes the DBR1 was made under the new regulations that allowed it to be more purpose built than sports racers before. And yes, in philosophy it is on the wrong side of your definition of a sports car. However, the fact is they did have to be road registrable - and indeed several, if not all, were. There are many shots of them with their number plates on to prove this. Indeed you'll probably be familiar with "XSK 497". Ascari A410
This is from scattered bits of information, but from what I've read through the years (and I might remember a discussion about it back in the old Atlas forums), I believe both were designed by John McNeil and that the first A410 is either a reworked Lola T92/10 chassis or the design was licensed from Lola. --Pc13 20:15, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Lola
As you may have noticed, I made a Lola Formula Cars template. That pretty much covers every car made by Lola, but there are still a few missing, and I don't know exactly where to put them.
I left out the Lola T330 derivatives that were turned into Can-Am cars, as they are actually rebodied F5000 cars. That means I've also left out the Frissbee, which while based on the T333, actually only ran in Can-Am configuration.
Another project missing is the T506 "Mini Grand Prix" car, which is a sort of go-kart with a single-seater body on top; the T88/40, which is a single-seater sports car, but might be a derivative of a Formula 3000 chassis; and the B01/70, which is actually the MG ZS used in the British Touring Car Championship. As with the title, wasn't the 1998 season known as Professional SportsCar Racing (PSCR), use these link below to get an idea of what the series title was for that year. Also bear in mind, Camel continued to sponsor the GTP and Camel Lights until 1993, but GTO/GTS/GTU was sponsorless between 1989-90, after that it was sponsored by Exxon. Also 1980 has been IMSA's sponsorless year

24 Hours of Le Mans winners' list

I perfectly agree that showing all the statistics on the main article isn't useful at all. But don't you think that it's better for the reader to can see the list of the winners on the main page. After all it's the reason why this race occurs, isnt'it ? On very complet articles it isn't advised because of the size of these "winners'-lists" (example Stanley cup) but on little articles it can be quite useful :) For example: UEFA Champions League.
Anyway I haven't changed anything yet ;)

- No problem for me if the article gets better soon. In this case, the list of the winners takes too much place to be added in the article. However a section, which is only used as a redirection for an other article sounds not very good. It's why I think it can be useful to write a summary in the section : "The circuit" (for example : Akatsuki (Naruto)) and to gather the sections : "the winners" and "the races" because the two different things are on the same wikitable.
It would perhaps be a good idea to copy the idea of "Stanley cup" who shows "For a list of Stanley Cup champions, see List of Stanley Cup champions." at the beginning of the article. If you want to rebuild the article yourself do not hesistate to call for me if you need any help. ^_^

P32T
I've taken the info from the entry list guide book available at the Le Mans press room after qualifying. In the 4.0 engine, power went from 635 to 650hp (strangely at a higher 7350rpm), and torque climbed from 740 to 770Nm (and is now maximum torque is available sooner. The engine was used in the Chamberlain Lola only, Courage keeps the 3.6. --Pc13 19:09, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
