in my opinion, the listing of the singles and EP's is important, though I don't feel it necessary to create files for all the singles and their track listings/lengths. I would assume to go ahead with creating files for the EP's, however, and moving the track listings over. PLEASE ADVISE.

Ramius V. Schweitzer 01:05, Nov 26, 2004 (UTC)

  • It's a complicated matter, but I would say that it's uncessary to place the EPs anywhere. Well, at least that's what I have done in Children of Bodom. The albums are vital, but EPs (specially Covenant's) just contain remixes and things like that. In my opinion, axe it. It's useless clutter. Anyway, are you are going to take the role of the "official" mantainer of Covenant? If you are, congrats. We really need better articles on Scandinavian bands. :) --Sn0wflake 02:13, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Thanks for the input, as for official maintainer... no. i started with Covenant becasue it seemed the easiest to 'fix', i really don't listen to them that much, not saying that i wouldn't mind getting more of their stuff. I'm headed over to Depeche Mode next... Ramius V. Schweitzer 02:56, Nov 27, 2004 (UTC)
  • To let you guys know, if anyone out there cares :), I will creating files for all the singles and EPs by Covenant. If the list on this page becomes too tedious, we can always start a page called Covenant Discography.The-dissonance-reports 20:02, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
You mean "files" as in articles and not as in audio files, correct? Joshfist 22:35, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
YeahThe-dissonance-reports 00:47, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
Would it be more convenient to make one page listing all the tracks and such rather than have individual pages for everything? A setup like that would likely be more easily browsable and readable. Joshfist 18:27, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
Well, I think the standard way to have pages for albums on Wikipedia includes an album pages, with an "album infobox" and an album template in the discussion secion of the article. An example is X Marks the Pedwalk's Drawback (album), the entire chronology of which I've been working on for awhile, but this particular article is nicely detailed!The-dissonance-reports 21:18, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
Oh yeah, and there are some articles about a single song only, but usually those are reserved for very popular songs (i.e., stuff by the Beatles, etc.) Elvis and Celine Dion have their own discography pages, but also individual pages for their albums. I've been working on a similar project with Wumpscut, titled, List of Works by Rudy Ratzinger. Anyway, there is no reason why we cannot have a combination of at least lists and individual album pages, Covenant has enough material to warrant both.The-dissonance-reports 21:23, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
Just wanted to add: the page you linked for Ratzinger is well done. Joshfist 03:51, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks a lot, your work on the VAC/Bryan page is great! Rudy's page is far from over though, I have to add links to the original albums.The-dissonance-reports 05:11, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Leaetherstrip.jpg

I'd like to keep this picture if possible -- If I get the permission of the person who took the picture, how do I indicate so in the image tags? The-dissonance-reports 05:06, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Simple permission isn't good enough. You need to get the image released under a free license such as the GFDL or a Creative Commons license. --Carnildo 03:50, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: VAC

(This is a reply to the topic "VAC" from User talk: Joshfist.)

I made the changes you suggested to the links contained in the Velvet Acid Christ article. Your idea makes more sense.

If you're up for taking over article updates and maintenance, go for it. I'm not into the band's music as much these days, though I'll probably keep an occassional eye on the article simply because I put so much work into it. Joshfist 17:46, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:MFAST2-2.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:MFAST2-2.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 09:32, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] FLA albums

Thanks for the tagging on those Front Line Assembly albums. I keep forgetting to tag albums as part of the WP Albums project. -- Xinit 03:35, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

You're right on the colours... orange just seemed wrong for an industrial band somehow... I'll likely infobox more of the albums in the next couple days. I'll take a closer look at that page you mentioned for X Marks the Pedwalk... on first look it looks pretty thorough. I've only skimmed, but I did look at the references, and I've mostly seen them used as in-line references with <ref>...</ref> tags used in the body so that the reference / endnote links back up into the body (Wikipedia:Citing_sources). I'll add it to my watchlist and make a couple edits this week. -- Xinit 04:01, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:85428058 l.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:85428058 l.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok 07:07, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wumpscut Albums

"Also, if anyone is interested, I thought about having a seperate album page for each version of each release, but have decided against that, and that there should be a page for each album/single/ep, with alternate artwork and info within that page...just something for me to work on!The-dissonance-reports 21:25, 12 December 2005 (UTC)"

Just came across the List of works by Rudy Ratzinger article, and cleaned that up and began work on this project you mentioned already. Seems to me, however, that there isn't enough info on quite a bit of :w:'s discography, so I took the liberty of getting in touch with Rudy and arranging a Q&A for trivia and general info, as well as the rights to post each and every album cover on www.wumpscut.de. Keep an eye out for the articles, pal. Until then, Blutpanzer 01:58, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Gent9.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:XMTPlive2.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:XMTPlive2.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 15:19, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:XMTP-Dangervinyl.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:XMTP-Dangervinyl.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:17, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Leaetherstrippromo10.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
