[edit] WP:AFL
Hi mate, I suggest you take a look at WikiProject AFL if you love your footy, and also Category:Fremantle Dockers players. Drop us a line with any questions mate. Cheers, Rogerthat Talk 01:35, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Doig Medal
To edit the box, you gotta check what template it is. The George Doig Medal is shown on the {{bestandfairest}}, click there to edit. I also moved "George Doig Medal" to "Doig Medal".
As for the Teal Cup, no article exists on it yet so for some reason it's been redirected to TAC Cup.
Let us know if you have any more questions. Cheers mate, Rogerthat Talk 10:36, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Fremantle FC
Just letting you know you're doing a good job, you clearly know what you're doing mate. What are your thoughts on the Category:Fremantle Football Club, and what articles should we include? Rogerthat Talk 02:24, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WikiProject NBL
Hey The-Pope
I am wondering if you would like to join WikiProject NBL. I believe that this is something that you might be able to help me with, by creating user boxes and player boxes for it or even adding articles about Players

As a participant of WikiProject AFL I thought you might be interested in this. I have started a vote to get a consensus on the naming convention for AFL season articles. [edit] Thankyou
Thanks for rewriting Australian Football League#National Expansion. I was meaning to write a message on the talk page to invite people to rewrite it & make it look right, but I didn't get round to it. Again, Thanks! Jorcoga 05:37, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Good work
Just wanted to say, good work on the Freo players. The articles are good quality too. We've nearly finished all the current players. Sambo2612 12:00, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Mark Williams
Hey Pope. I just noticed an edit you made to the history of the AFL concerning Mark Williams after the 2004 Grand Final. You've removed information about how animated he was after the Grand Final, stating that all coaches get animated after the game. I felt that Mark Williams actions after the game were completely out of the ordinary of what any other coach would do and quite noteworthy to the article. I would like to get your thoughts on this. Reply on my talk page. Normy132 01:42, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, okay. You've made your point. It doesn't belong in there. Normy132 02:20, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Quiz
Mr Pope - I know that you are excited about Freo making and improbable finals appearance this season - but will you please add a new question to the AFL quiz!! (I was only joking about ex-communcating everyone west of Broken Hill from participating) πίππύ δ'Ω∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 12:07, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- By the way - there's someone called The Pope in my footy tipping competition - it's not you is it? - they're coming in at around no. 36 (out of a couple of hundred) - if it is you, I'm not far away, you'll work me out easily from by nick name. πίππύ δ'Ω∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 05:25, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- Pope - it's time you got over your disappointment and put up another question! πίππύ δ'Ω∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 06:42, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Freo jumpers
I didn't delete the actual images, someone else did that. I agree they would be a useful inclusion, but the naming of ths sponsors in the article text breaches Wikipedia policy. Grant65 | Talk 02:31, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
- Which policy? I've searched and found that the "reverse" of this section, "teams sponsored by Nike" etc have been deleted, but more because they were considered to be useless lists, rather than due to them being ads. I think the points I made about them assisting in identifying photos and, unlike most other AFL clubs we are in a position to accurately keep track of them all, having only 12 years worth. I've contacted "Mero" in the past about releasing his images, not sure if he's rmered who posted these pics that have been deleted for no copyright. Might have to take a snapshot of my jumper! The-Pope 03:05, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hmmm...I don't think lists of sponsors on jumpers complies with Wikipedia is not a soapbox or WP:CORP. Pics would be a way of getting around that. Grant65 | Talk 04:29, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Notable football
Sorry, did not see that in your articles... If you could please make note of that, ie. "notable as first string.. etc... " Sorry about my American english... --10:55, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re: They are notable according to WP:BIO...
Jack Riewoldt (footballer) & Shane Edwards may be notable, but they were deleted because they did not assert notability. Nowhere was the Richmond Football Club mentioned, so while they may be notable, there was no claim of it. It's as if someone created the article for Pelé and just said "he is an awesome football player." As for commenting on his userpage by accident... I have no excuse on that one. My bad. Happy editing! --Daniel Olsen 02:34, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] North Melbourne - Kangaroos
I've started a discussion topic on the talk page of the AFL article on this subject. I'll be notifying the other editors of it as I think this does need to be sorted out properly and everything laid out on the table. CURSE OF FENRIC home talk usage 21:38, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] David Gault
I see in your testing page you have the article on David Gault. You may wish to look at Page 177 of the Saturday edition of the Western Australian newspaper. It has a pretty decent article on the 200-game milestone. Incase you cannot get a copy of it:
- Five time grandfinalist
- Two time premier (97 and 05)
- 17th player to reach 200games for SFFC (9 June 2007 - he reached it)
- Debut Round 9 1996
- 31 yrs old
- from York

[edit] Collingwood History
G'day - thanks for the feedback in relation to the Magpies history. The issue with the 'I's and 'me's comes from the fact that I actually wrote these articles for another websites and for my own records, and though that I could help add weight to the CFC page on Wikipedia. I'll re-read for the individualised words and the like. Thanks for the feedback, though, appreciated. J26

[edit] Civility?
How do you explain this edit summary of yours? "I will personally hunt down and exterminate the next person to write FreEmantle!" as seen here. You want to question me on civil edit summaries? May be you should pay more attention to what you write, before questioning others. And by the way who deserves civility? Brad Hogg? A person who shouted obscenties at Indians and got away because Indians were magnanimous? Please... By the way, what was so unicivil about my edit summary that touched a raw nerve in you? That summary was not directed at you, so you rather not lose sleep over it. It's all in the game, mate, as the Aussies say. -- ¿Amar៛Talk to me/My edits 14:39, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AWB and the wrong edit summary
Quite ironic that the one thing you can't edit if you make a mistake in it is the edit summary. Especially when you are doing bulk changes using AWB, it pays to read it every now and then, in case you stuff it up! Sorry about confusing people with mentions of unencyclopedic round by round goal lists! The-Pope (talk) 16:00, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] WA project noticeboard
I apparently have taken issue with an cfd item you were invovled in - at the wa noticeboard - without realising you were one of us - obviously i owe you a round or two for that - cheers SatuSuro 13:42, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
- yep and if sats brought everyone this side of the rabbit proof fence the round he says he owes, it would have a noticeable impact to the level of contributions until daylight savings returns... Gnangarra 14:17, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Dream Team/Victoria etc
Hi. I guess you could argue though, that this final squad have each been presented with the guernseys, guernsey numbers, been part of the final team photo etc. In any case, happy with to put it all up for discussion on the WikiProject AFL page and come to some sort of conclusion. If there's a want to adjust it to the final team of 25 that runs out on the ground, then will happily adjust. Cheers. Boomtish (talk) 09:43, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
- No problem, I understand where you're coming from. I guess my point was, in the case of someone like Jonathan Brown, who has been named Captain of team, has been selected to represent Victoria etc..if he were to pull out last minute, do we still count his selection and captaincy appointment as an accolade? I can think of reasons why we would and why we wouldn't basically. But yes, it will be reviewed come the weekend. Cheers. Boomtish (talk) 11:49, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
