Hi Thedjatclubrock, Here we go!!

If you have any queries, then place them. I will try to answer them. Then, we will proceed further. Shyam (T/C) 09:16, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Shyam, I haven't been very active lately, but I am hoping to fix that soon. I was wondering if you had any recommendations for me regarding adminship. Currently, most of my contributions are RC patrol, since I'm not very good with writing articles, I was wondering what other tasks can prove to the community that I am dedicated, and trustworthy. Thanks, Thedjatclubrock :-) (T/C) 02:02, 24 March 2008 (UTC).
Thedjatclubrock, community expects an administrator to be active. First let me know, when you will be able to be active. RC patroling is good, but not sufficient before going for an RfA. You should have broad knowledge about Wikipedia's policy before. So, community would expect to contribute at other places as well. You may have a look at other backlogs. Thanks, Shyam (T/C) 06:22, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Shyam, I am definitely active now, do you have any recommendations where I should begin? I've been on WP:RfA and WP:AfD lately, and I expect to continue there. Thanks Thedjatclubrock :-) (T/C) 00:59, 26 March 2008 (UTC).
These also can be a good start. WP:Afd is really a good exercise. So here comes your first CSD Exercise. Good luck --- Shyam (T/C) 11:34, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] CSD Exersise

Okay, this is a test to make sure you understand the policies of speedy deletion. The following are actual cases that I have come across while clearing out CAT:CSD. Assume that the title of the page is everything following User:EWS23/CSD/. You are allowed to use any technique that you might usually use to assert notability (e.g.- Google), but you are not allowed to use Wikipedia in any way (you cannot see if the page still exists on Wikipedia, go through my deletion log to see if I deleted it, and any Google searches you do should use "Subject -Wikipedia" which is a good tool anyway to help eliminate Wikipedia mirrors).

Assume for this exercise that you are an administrator. View the page, but do not edit it (I plan on using these for multiple coachees). Then, return here and comment below the entry in question. Write whether you would delete the page or not. If you would, cite the specific criteria at WP:CSD that you would use to delete it. If you would not delete it, state why, and state what you would do to the page (simply remove the tag, redirect it somewhere else, keep it but remove certain information from it, etc.). Good luck!

[edit] Halo 3 trailier

For this example, I'd delete it per CSD A1, because is is a short article providing little or no context. As an aside, it has no notability or references. Thedjatclubrock :-) (T/C) 01:01, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

I would delete it. Shyam (T/C) 05:38, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Union Millwright

I would delete per A3, because it is an article only containing external links. Thedjatclubrock :-) (T/C) 01:03, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

I would delete it. Shyam (T/C) 05:38, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Webs

Well, personally, I wouldn't tag it as G1, it doesn't fall under "gibberish, an unsalvageably incoherent page with no meaningful content.". I would delete it under G3 for vandalism however. Thedjatclubrock :-) (T/C) 01:08, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

I would delete it. Shyam (T/C) 05:38, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Neil Haverton Smith

I would speedily delete that page as A7, because it is an article about a person that doesn't assert its notability. A quick google also shows there is no major reference to him. Thedjatclubrock :-) (T/C) 01:14, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

I would delete it. Shyam (T/C) 05:38, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fall Out Boy

While that article needs a lot of clean-up, it doesn't fall under A7. It is a notable band, who has made notable albums. I'd add more references to the article, expand and change the tone of it, but not delete it. Thedjatclubrock :-) (T/C) 01:18, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

I would keep it. Shyam (T/C) 05:38, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Nathaniel Bar-Jonah

I would delete this one under G3 (as a hoax) unless there were notable references to this occurance. Thedjatclubrock :-) (T/C) 01:24, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

I would keep it, because article doesn't seem to be non-sense. Rather, it is not well-written. Shyam (T/C) 05:38, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

I would follow up your most of the answers, except last one. So, you are well-aware of WP:AfD. I shall come with the next task soon. Thanks, Shyam (T/C) 05:38, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, Thedjatclubrock :-) (T/C) 20:10, 1 April 2008 (UTC).

[edit] More questions

Q.1. Why do you want to become an admin? How would it be beneficial for the project, to giving you a mop? Shyam (T/C)09:00, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Answer: I would like to become an admin because I'd like to be able to use the tools to benefit and help the wiki. There are many times when I am Patrolling and notice an editor, with 6 counts of Blatant vandalism and they are still trolling. I would also monitor new pages, and delete pages that fall under the CSD etc.

Q.2. How frequent you check your watchlist, when you are online? Shyam (T/C) 05:46, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry for my recent unavailability. My only computer, my MacBook Pro has been in for repair until recently, due to a heating issue, and warped parts. Also, I've been on vacation for the last week or so, with no to a limited connection, so unfortunately I haven't been able to contribute. That will soon change. Sorry for the trouble.
