If \triangle ABC is an isosceles and right triangle, the measurement of \angle A is 45°, and the legs of the triangle to the right are 5 centimeters long, what would the length of the hypotenuse be? Please round to the nearest hundredth.

Remember, you may use the 45°-45°-90° Theorem or the Law of Cosines and Sines. The picture supplied to the right is drawn to scale.

Answer: 5 \sqrt 2 centimeters

The formula given below is the formula for the tangent ratio.

\tan A = \frac{opposite}{adjacent}

If \triangle ABC is a right triangle, \angle A = 45°, and the opposite side, segment BC, equals 5 cm, then what is the length of the adjacent side?

Answer: 5 centimeters
