Thevur is a panchayat town in Salem district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

As of 2001 India census[1], Thevur had a population of 8122. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Thevur has an average literacy rate of 52%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 63%, and female literacy is 39%. In Thevur, 8% of the population is under 6 years of age.
