Therese Murray

Therese Murray is an American politician from the state of Massachusetts. As of March 21, 2007 she is the President of the Massachusetts Senate, becoming the first woman to lead a legislative body in the state.[1]

Murray represents the "Plymouth and Barnstable" district (that is, the district that comprises part of Plymouth County and part of Barnstable County) in the Massachusetts Senate, and, before becoming Senate President, was the chairperson of the Senate Ways and Means Committee. She has one daughter.
