Theodosia Throckmorton's parents are archaeologists that specialize in ancient Egypt, and after each journey there, they bring back newly discovered artifacts to there home in the United Kingdom. This time, Theodosia's mother brings back a mysterious amulet called the Heart of Egypt, which seems to hold a dark curse. The amulet's curse is powerful enough to destroy the kingdom, and when it falls into the wrong hands, danger were be unleashed. One day, a man called Snowthorpe arrives at the Throckmortons' house, saying that he wanted to view the Heart of Egypt. Theodosia's mother agrees, but it turns out that the amulet had been stolen. Theodosia, with the help of her brother Henry and a man called Lord Wigmere, must find the Heart of Egypt and return it to its rightful place in Egypt in order to keep Britain safe from the amulet's dark curse.
