Theodore John Conway was a United States Army four star general who served as Commander in Chief, United States Strike Command/U.S. Commander in Chief, Middle East, Africa south of the Sahara, and South Asia (USCINCSTRIKE/USCINCMEAFSA) from 1966 to 1969. Conway was born on July 24, 1909,[1] and graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1933. In addition to Strike Command, Conway also commanded the 82nd Airborne Division. He was promoted to four star rank on November 1, 1966, and retired from the army in 1969. Conway died on September 11, 1990, and was buried in San Francisco National Cemetery.[1]
