In Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's Legacy series, Thelesis de Mornay is a great poetess of Terre d'Ange, best known as the author of The Exile's Lament, written when she was twenty-three years old and in exile on Alba. The Master of the Straits allowed her to cross to Alba in exchange for a song.
During the Bitterest Winter, Thelesis catches the deadly fever that plagues the City of Elua, but recovers from it. When Phèdre nó Delaunay and Joscelin Verreuil return from Skaldia and seek her help, she conveys them to Ysandre de la Courcel. Thelesis is trusted by the Dauphine, and is present at her secret council in L'Agnace.
After the Battle of Troyes-le-Mont, Thelesis starts composing the Ysandrine Cycle, an epic work chronicling the tumultuous ascension of Ysandre to her throne. She recites a beginning portion of it at the wedding of Ysandre and Drustan mab Necthana.
