theaudience is the debut album from British band theaudience. The album was released in the UK in 1998 and peaked at #19 on the UK album chart.*"If You Can't Do It When You're Young; When Can You Do It?" featured her sister, Martha-Rose playing Sophie's younger self in the music video.

"Keep In Touch" was briefly scheduled as the fifth single from the album, but never appeared.

The vinyl edition of the album was pressed as a limited edition on glittery vinyl.
Early CD copies came with a six-track bonus disc featuring early versions of "I Know Enough" and "Mr. Doasyouwouldbedoneby", acoustic versions of "Keep In Touch", "A Pessimist is Never Disappointed" and "You Get What You Deserve", and a cover of The Grooveyard's "I Can See Clearly".
