Theater am Schiffbauerdamm

The Theater am Schiffbauerdamm, was a theatre opened on 19 November 1892 as the Neues Theater ("new theatre"). The address is am Schiffbauerdamm 4a/5 in Berlin, Germany. The first play was Goethe's Iphigenie auf Tauris. The Neo-baroque construction of the architect Heinrich Seeling could be considered of the most glamorous theatres in Germany and the building is currently under historic preservation (German: Denkmalschutz).
Since 1954 the Berliner Ensemble, which was founded in 1949 by Helene Weigel and Bertolt Brecht played at this theatre.
