The abyss of ages
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The abyss of ages is mentioned in William Golding's novel Lord of the Flies. The abyss is a never ending darkness, a deep hole that is impossible to look down. The "abyss of ages" is a collective deepness. It almost appears to be a collection of evil times, places, and people.
"Only when Jack himself roused a gaudy bird from a primitive nest of sticks was the silence shattered and echoes set ringing by a harsh cry that seemed to come out of the abyss of ages." (Golding)
