The Whisperer in Darkness is an upcoming horror film being produced by the H. P. Lovecraft Historical Society. It is based on the short story of the same name by H. P. Lovecraft and scheduled for release in 2008. The HPLHS had previously released The Call of Cthulhu.

The Call of Cthulhu was made to look like it had been made in the 1920s, the same time as the short story it was based on was printed. As a result, it was made to look grainy, with black and white coloring and as a silent film instead of a "talkie". The same concept will be done with The Whisperer in Darkness; it will still be black and white, but as the story was released in the 1930s, it will have speaking roles.
