"The Weekend" is the first hit single of Michael Gray. It contains a brief sample of the 80's disco song; Kerr's "Back At Ya". It debuted and peaked at Number 7 in the UK charts and was number 1 in Italy and Poland and Top 5 in Australia. The main singer is Shena.
The main verse is sung to the same tune as the verse " I can't wait, for saturday to begin..." from Oliver Cheatham's Get Down Saturday Night.
