[edit] Waverly Elementary School
The Waverly Elementary School consists of about 200 students, from pre-school to grade six. The curriculum is similar to that of a Montessori school, with an emphasis on interactive learning.
[edit] Waverly Middle School
The Waverly Middle School consists of about 60 students in grades seven and eight. At the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year, the Middle School left the Elementary school facility and moved into its own space - a converted office building that had previously housed the high school. The curriculum is a continuation of the school's ideals. Students are encouraged to think about their world in new ways, and to put their skills to practical use in a variety of community service projects.
[edit] Waverly High School
The Waverly High School consists of about 100 students in grades nine through twelve. At the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year, the High School moved to the new Dean A. and Janice E. Scarborough Campus, a facility consisting of seven buildings. The buildings on the new campus, which was written up in The Los Angeles Times, are all refurbished houses built before 1940. The Pasadena Historical Society helped to fund the moving of three buildings from their original site so that the buildings could be preserved and put to use. The new facility expanded Waverly's capacity. The class of '08 will be its largest graduating class yet, and the school hopes to expand to approximately 120 students by 2010.
Waverly High School's curriculum encourages its students to puruse academic and extracurricular activities. The faculty and students work together to establish a curriculum that will emphasize learning for learning's sake. Many courses at Waverly are discussion-based seminars, a format that is facilitated by the small class size.
[edit] Sports
Sports at Waverly consist of men's and women's basketball teams in both the middle and high school, as well as a golf club (High School), baseball team, and women's volleyball team. Waverly is registered with the California Interscholastic Federation.
