The Volts

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Volts are a British rock band from Oxford.

The Volts formed in 2006 and consist of three members. Huw Jones - Vocals/Bass, Giles 'Ted' Palmer - Guitar, Ben Townshend - Drums.

In early 2006 it took the band only a few local gigs before they were spotted by Producer Mick Lister. Mick had previously worked with bands such as Bad Company and saw something special in the guys. Mick invited The Volts into the studio and helped shape and record the bands songs and sound.

Soon after a CD of these recordings was passed to legendary Producer Hugh Padgham. Hugh Padgham has worked with acts including The Police, Sting, David Bowie, Genesis, XTC, Brian Wilson and Mansun. Hugh was invited down to see the band perform and that night he offered to record an entire album with them.

The Volts debut album was recorded at Hugh's own studio - Stanley House in West London. Padgham's vast collection of vintage recording gear running alongside the latest cutting edge equipment helped The Volts create the sound they had been searching for. It's believed the album was completed in early 2007 and that it has been Mastered by American Mastering legend Bob Ludwig.

In March 2007 The Volts track 'Chequered Flag' won the award for 'Best Rock Song' at the IAC Music awards in the USA. The band beat over 25,000 acts to take first place.
