Student media at Athabasca University is provided by the official student publication The Voice Magazine. Previously printed and mailed to students across Canada, the magazine, since 2001, is published exclusively online in HTML and PDF format. It is the only student paper in Canada to be published exclusively online. Readers may subscribe and receive email notification when each issue is released.
All submissions to the Voice are provided by freelance writers, most of whom are AU students. The website receives around 5000 visitors per month, and readers include AU undergraduates, graduate students, faculty and staff.
A yearly service of The Voice is the writing contest, which offers a scholarship prize of $500 for the best student submissions in each the fiction and non-fiction categories.
They are a member of the Canadian University Press.
