[edit] Biography

[edit] 1982-1984: Early success

The band started in 1982 when the friends Teresa Valério, Alice Cury and Valber Valério (cousin of Teresa and well-known Tiozão) listened a single of Ramones, they love the sound and decide to form a band called "The Viboras". The formation was: Teresa at the drums, Alice at the guitar and Valber at the bass. Alice just knew few chords, Teresa knew nothing about playing drums and Valber already played in other bands.

At the beginning, the band started to play at small bars in Rio de Janeiro. One of the gigs, Teresa became aggressive and said that want to sing, Alice and Valber doesn't understand but accepted, to the drums they called Bruna Peicolácio, a 17-years-old girl very shy. At the same gig the band perform a great gig and everybody, who don't know the name of the band starts to scream The V, The V, The V, Bruno Noldato, manager of Geto Records was one of them.

The band, now with the name "The V", they record the first single Você é Patetico, the single was a success and they record the album The V Ataca Os Ignorantes in 1983. After that was an extended tour called The Tour Pros Punk! and in 1984 the band record the album Me Dêi Sangue, an album in the same way of the first.

[edit] 1984-1986: Problems and on hiatus

After theMe Dêi Sangue tour, Teresa broke her legs and the band stay 6 months without gigs. Just in June 1985 the band enter in Sandman Estúdios to record the third album The V: Adias, an album more soft and with a better production

In October 1985, Geto Records finish their contract and the band, afraid of being forgotten, record independently Help O Caralho but with distribution by Caminhão Metropólis, a punk and aggressive album. But in December, Valber become a former member because He was so sad.

The band sign with Caminhão Metropolis and in May 1986, the band record Banana Goose, a rock album, showing the band without the punk side. One month they record the EP Sozinha Para Poucos and the band enter in hiatus.

[edit] 1988-1989: The comeback

In the hiatus, Teresa enter to the riot grrl movement, Alice became designer and Bruna enters in university.

But in 1988, the band propose a "comeback" for two years, but in the studios the band have too much problems, Teresa became a rebel, Alice became a rich girl and Bruna was so confused with the university, but in December the (worst) album is released Amanhã Nós Voltaremos, the band makes a little tour (Alice saids that she doesn't want to play in dirty places) and record the new album Vacaciones Perdidas, after this release, Alice and Bruna get out of the band

[edit] 1992-1995: Last revival

Teresa try to make a revival and record Teresa & The V...all songs was written by Teresa, but a lot of musicians recorded the songs (inclusively Bruna and Valber) and touring with Teresa between 1992 and 1995. In march of 1995, the band reunited to make the 3 last gigs of The V.
