"The Unwinding Cable Car" is the second single from alternative rock band Anberlin's third album Cities. It is the band's first "slower" song released as a single. The video has been released and has already gotten over 100,000 views.

Lead vocalist Stephen Christian stated before playing "The Unwinding Cable Car" on AOL Sessions Under Cover that the song was originally meant to be "a segue between two songs on the record, but me and Joey (guitarist Joseph Milligan) liked it so much that we just turned it into an entire song".

The song has spent 16 weeks as a TOP 10 HIT on Air 1 stations.
