Incidents in Castlerock during the Troubles resulting in two or more fatalities:
1993
- 25 March 1993 - James Kelly (25) who was a member of the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA), and James McKenna (52), Gerard Dalrymple (58) and Noel O'Kane (20) who were all civilians, were shot dead as they arrived to start work in Gortree Park. The men were builders and renovating houses as part of a renewal contract with the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. All four men were Roman Catholic and were shot by the Ulster Freedom Fighters (UFF).[1] The weapons were later used by the same gang in carrying out the Halloween Greysteel massacre at the Rising Sun pub on 31 October 1993. It has been claimed that one of the gang was a double agent and protected by the Royal Ulster Constabulary's Special Branch.[2][3] Torrens Knight received eight life sentences for the Greysteel massacre, together with four more for the murders of four Catholic workmen killed seven months earlier in Castlerock. He served seven years in prison before paramilitary prisoners were granted a general release under the Good Friday Agreement.
