The Town that Dreaded Sundown is a 1977 R-rated film directed by Charles B. Pierce. It is based on the The Phantom Killer, who murdered five people in the 1940s. The film is presented in the vein of Unsolved Mysteries with a narrator dictating the actions before they are shown. Ben Johnson stars as the law-enforcement officer who tries to catch the killer. More interestingly is the appearance of Dawn Wells (Mary Ann) of Gilligan's Island as one of the potential victims of the killer. Tagline: In 1946, this man killed 5 people, today he still lurks in the streets of Texarkana, Ark.
