The Time of the Hero

The Time of the Hero (Spanish: La ciudad y los perros; lit. The City and the Dogs, 1963) was the first novel published by Peruvian novelist Mario Vargas Llosa. Set among a community of cadets in a Lima military school (the Leoncio Prado Military School), it is notable for its experimental and complex employment of multiple perspectives.

The novel was later turned into a film by Peruvian director Francisco Lombardi.
