The Three Johns were a New Wave band formed in 1981 in Leeds originally consisting of The Mekons co-founder, Jon Langford as well as John Hyatt and Phillip "John" Brennan. Their music was a form of dance rock which was often political (Anti-Thatcher). Some of the songs for which they may be most remembered include, AWOL, English White Boy Engineer and Death Of The European. The band recorded several sessions for John Peel, and have a BBC minisite about them. Some cite them as Gothic Rock of the Second Generation[citation needed].
