The Threat Down! is a recurring segment on The Colbert Report. It is epitomized by a number of humorous or serious national threats that are presented in a 5-4-3-2-1 style. Usually, the number one threat to America is bears, though some "Threat-downs!" neglect bears completely. The most famous "Threat-down" included a back and forth competition between robots and bears, with the number one spot going to robotic bears. Whenever Colbert announces bears receiving the number one spot, he shows a clip of a vicious bear roaring and gnashing. This paranoia of bears by Stephen Colbert's character stems from his real childhood fear of bears.
