"The Thing I Like" is an R&B/pop song recorded in 1993 by Aaliyah for the soundtrack for the action-comedy film A Low Down Dirty Shame (1994) and the international version of Aaliyah's debut studio album Age Ain't Nothing but a Number (1994). It was released as the album's fifth single in Europe in 1995. Written and produced by R. Kelly, the song features a rap verse from himself. Its lyrics are about a girl's love for a male because of the one "thing she likes" about him.

"The Thing I Like" was the sixth release overall from Age Ain't Nothing but a Number and fifth official release in Europe. The CD version of the single features various remixes produced by Paul Gotel. The song was not very successful, but became Aaliyah's fifth single to reach the top-forty singles in the United Kingdom.
