The Thin White Line (EMS Emblem)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Thin White Line is a symbol that Emergency Medical Service(EMS) Personnel (CFR, EMT, EMT-I, EMT-P and etc.) in the United States use to identify themselves and other EMS Personnel (It may also used to identify spouses, family members, etc). The "Thin White Line" decal is a symbol displayed in honor of Fallen or Injured Brothers & Sisters in the field of EMS.

These emblems may be seen on vehicles as well. This means (presumably) that the driver of the vehicle is either an active or retired EMS Personnel, or the relative or spouse of one.

It is presumed by some that if their personal vehicle is bearing this symbol, they will be treated with respect from a brother or sister technician.

The Thin White Line Emblem consist of a blue background with a white line crossing horizontally through the middle. Blue & White are considered EMS colors.

The Thin White Line Symbol when placed on a vehicle is usually found on the side of the rear vehicle license plate, or on the rear window (commonly seen on SUV's.) They also make Thin White Line License Plates. These are typically found on the front of the car replacing the state issued license plate.
