The Thief Queen's Daughter is the second book in The Lost Journals of Ven Polypheme series by Elizabeth Haydon. It was released in July 2007.Long ago, in the Second Age of history, a young Nain explorer by the name of Ven Polypheme traveled much of the known and unknown world, recording his adventures. Recently discovered by archaeologists, a few fragments of his original journals are reproduced in this book. Great care has been taken to reconstruct the parts of the journal that did not survive, so that a whole story can be told. Charles Magnus Ven Polypheme--known as Ven--is the youngest son of a long line of famous shipwrights. He dreams not of building ships, but of sailing them to far-off lands where magic thrives. Ven gets his chance when he is chosen to direct the Inspection of his family's latest ship--and sets sail on the journey of a lifetime.
Char the cooks help on that same ship is assigned by the captain, husband of the crossroads inn hostess, to look after the Nain and uses this as an excuse to follow him every where and sharing in his adventurous life. He is Vens best friend and shares a room with him in Hare’s Warren at the Inn

Vens friend not to mention guardian of Saeli by her own choice Ida No played a more than significant part in the floating island by closing the rover’s box. she's a skinny pick pocket with more potential then she lets out, living at the cross roads inn with more than a knack at solving the insolvable .she is known as an orphan but has a horrifying past and an even more horrifying mother .and Ven the new official reporter living at general ease takes himself and friends clemency, Saeli and char but when Saeli is kidnapped an unanticipated kindness shines through the grime of Ida and the whole group has a shock, an adventure, and a light at the end of the tunnel.
It is illustrated by Jason Chan, which is notable since the first book in the series was illustrated by Brett Helquist.
