The Tear of Venus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Tear of Venus (Hedychium flavescens) (port. "lágrima de Venus") is a plant native to the Brazilian rainforest. It proliferates in moist conditions, beside rivers and lakes. The intensely perfumed flowers resemble white dresses.
The oil, which is used in perfumery, is reminiscent of eucalyptus and jasmine. It is primarily obtained from the pistil and petals of the flower. Other uses for Tear of Venus oil include medicinal compounds which may provide benefit to those suffering from respiratory conditions, pulmonary infections, sinusitis, bronchitis, etc. The oil is also thought to possess aphrodisiac qualities and stimulate blood circulation, and may ease muscle pains and joint articulations.
