The Tallyman's Dark Omnibus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Tallyman's Dark Omnibus is a stage/kabaret performance by a masked storyteller from England who uses song and video to describe a bleak view on our present world. The bleakness is offset by an emotional depth that demonstrates a very real empathy with his characters, many of whom are based on real encounters. Performances are often delivered in a Dark Cabaret style with a range of instruments such as fretless guitars and backing synthesizers used to support his voice. Occasionally he is joined on stage by 'characters' from the songs/stories.
The Tallyman is a slang term often used in England to describe a form of debt collector or 'loan shark.'
Going by the name Tal E. Shaanti, little is known of this performer. Early acclaimed appearances across Europe led to the release in 2003 of an EP 'Cyber Cabaret,' followed by live appearances in the UK. It is also suspected that he is behind Carnivale/Theatre Noir, Sex, Darkness & Fear, fronted by Mother (whose true identity is also unknown,) 'The Great Betrayal,' and the groups, 'Fragment' and 'Son et ImagÄ—.'
