The Swear is an Atlanta rock band founded by former Alastor songwriter/guitarist/vocalist Elizabeth Elkins.

Their 2005 debut album Every Trick's A Good One had six songs "Last Breath", "Letters Faded", "January", "List", "Chicago" and "The Sleep Inside." The cover artwork is by Jacksonville, Florida-based mixed-media artist Dennis Campay.[1] The album was produced by Russ-T Cobb and mastered by Howie Weinberg, known for his work on Nirvana's Nevermind and Jeff Buckley's Grace. The CD went on to win numerous press "Top Albums of 2005" awards, despite its independent release status.[citation needed] The Swear is know for a sound that skirts influences such as Muse, Smashing Pumpkins, Guns N' Roses, and The Distillers. The band has won a Grand Prize award in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.[2]

The Swear's songs have appeared on F/X's Wanted, The WB's Smallville, The WB's Roswell Season One DVD, FOX's Reunion, TNT's Wanted, ABC's "Life As We Know It", The Discovery Channel's Outward Bound, and five MTV programs.[citation needed]

The band's first full length will be released in summer 2008. Titled "Hotel Rooms and Heart Attacks" it includes songs recorded with producers Ted Niceley, Matt Goldman and Jeff Tomei across 2007. It was mixed during the winter of 2008 by Eli Janney at Ishlab in Brooklyn.
