The main protagonist is a young girl called Andy who is living between the two houses of her divorced parents. Her mother is remarried to a man "Bill the baboon" with three children, who Andy does not get along with. Her father is married to a woman with young twins, who Andy doesn't like either. Her main confidante is her Sylvanian Families toy rabbit, named Radish. Andy is determined to reunite her parents so they can go back to their old home, Mulberry Cottage, and she won't have to live out of a suitcase, travelling between the two any longer. However, on her way home from school she finds an elderly couple's house and they soon take a shine to her and with their friendship she soon adjusts to living with her parents' divorce.
