The Stupids (band)

The Stupids were a skatepunk thrash group created by Tom Withers. Hailing from Ipswich in the United Kingdom in the 1980s, they were thought of as one of the leading groups of this style in those days. They recorded three sessions for John Peel's BBC Radio 1 show and toured the USA (with NYC rockers Ludichrist) and Australia (with locals, the Hard Ons) as well as Europe and the United Kingdom. In addition to the above the band have since featured on various CD re-issues, compilations (i.e. Sounds and US skate mag Thrasher), collector's singles and BBC session releases put out by Strange Fruit.

A professionally filmed live video tape, Drive-In Hit Movie, was released shortly after the band broke up in 1989.

In June 2008 Boss Tuneage has announced plans for a comprehensive reissues series of the Stupids, co-ordinating 6 CD and LP reissues of their entire back catalogue, 4 for release on the Boss Tuneage Retro Series imprint, the other two on Visible Noise
